Why are we wasteing time in such useless polls ?!
We know the are more MB fans in here.
And we also know the in the real world BMW leads the way, others just follow the propelar.
Anybody that belives that some european auto maker can come even close to BMW as far as design goes, must be smoking something.

Do you know Aesop's fable "THE FOX WITHOUT A TAIL":

Quote:
A fox lost his tail in escaping from a steel trap. When he began to go about again, he found that every one looked down upon or laughed at him. Not liking this, he thought to himself that if he could persuade the other foxes to cut off their tails, his own loss would not be so noticeable.

Accordingly he called together the foxes and said: "How is it that you still wear your tails? Of what use are they? They are in the way, they often get caught in traps, they are heavy to carry and not pretty to look upon. Believe me, we are far better without them. Cut off your tails, my friends, and you will see how much more comfortable it is. I for my part have never enjoyed myself so much nor found life so pleasant as I have since I lost mine."

Upon this, a sly old fox, seeing through the trick, cried, "It seems to me, my friend, that you would not be so anxious for us to cut off our tails, if you had not already lost yours."

i think "Audi", minus the grill's, but since some like them then its surely the right direction. Go Audi.

Volvo is definitely not in the right direction. New S40 looks like a miniature sedan cause it's a lot smaller than the previous model. VW Jetta is a lot better IMO. On the other hand i don't like the new Passat very much. There is something wrong with the front lights and the shape of the rear doors.

I'd have to say either Audi or Mercedes-Benz, but I voted for Audi.

Audi IMO, doesn't have a strange or funny looking car in their lineup. Their design language is cool, crisp and clean. No bulging wheel arches like an S-Class, not funny cut-lines like certain BMWs. I think Audis, inside and out have the best "designs" of the European brands. The only brand the compares on the whole as a brand is Porsche, but the Cayenne is even an acquired taste.

Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, after that its pretty much up in the air, IMO.

I must say that i was not expecting that!

After the recent designs my feeling about Mercedes are mixed. SLK, new M , A and B are nice but i expected more from S class and R while CLS is not good IMO.

I voted for Porsche, the designs of their cars is flawless(except for the Cayenne). IMO Audi, MB and BMW share second place. IMO non of they have flawless designed cars.

MB: The design of the latests MB cars are good but somehow confusing with MB taking elements of one car and putting in on another(i.e MM rear and SLR nose).

BMW: Some bimmers look fresh while others look to extravagant or weird IMO.

Audi: Their cars look good but they lack that "hotness"(i.e 911, CLS, Z4).

Why weren't you expecting that? I love Audis, I only take rare exception to some of your claims about them concerning Mercedes and BMW. Audi is like my second favorite behind Mercedes-Benz now. I mean really from the A3, A4, A6, A8 there isn't a loser or suspect vehicle in the bunch!

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not so jaded about Mercedes-Benz to the point where I think they can do no wrong. They're designs aren't as "perfect" as they used to be across the board, hence me voting for Audi. I can't wait to see what Audi does with their upcoming 2-door models like the Gallardo-based sports car and the Nuvolari/A5 Coupe.

What about MMI in Audi ?!
What about the new/future VW designs ?!
What about the new W221 S klasse ?!
And Porsche isn't really a design leader, perhaps 40 years ago the were, but know how can you say Porsche is in the right direction when they have only one direction (well the 928 and CGT are somewhat of an exception).
Not to metion those Toyota/Lexus boys switching to BMW for "inspiration".
Or the fact that when the 7er was out the automotive industry was conserative/stuck in the design mud and now everybody talks about design ?!
This fox fable/thing is just crap. The auto press and competitors laughed at BMW but now everybody is influnced directly or indirectly by them.
So do not even mention other german/european/whatever auto maker in the same sentence with BMW.
You may like them or hate them, BUT they AND only THEY are THE IT design.
If they sell and influence others than their are the right ones/going in the right direction, IT IS NOT A QUESTION OF LOVE OR HATE.
