I take it any time over the Brooklands.

Rolls Royce/BMW really should have choosen a better exterior colour to showcase this car to the world. I think the perfect colour would be black as it would compliment the chrome effect of the bonnet and front windscreen surrounds.

The car does look very good but lacks the classic look of the Bentley. The interior is definetly class leading if not leader of all classes. It looks like a Phantom that has had the rear doors removed in some of the images. In other images, it looks perfect.

I think we need better images then what we have been provided to determine if it has raised the game over the Bentley.

sweet pics. However, I think the convertible is the one to go for.

Re: Rolls Royce unveils new Phantom Coupe - 02-17-2008, 05:20 AM

Haha, Brooklands all the way.

The Roller is not very elegant like that, the Convertible looks much better. The roof integration, the C-pillar are not very elegant, and the fact that the roof is cut on the A-pillar is here to show this is just a Convertible with a roof that doesn't open...

Looks too short, wheels too big, it is not very natural, not en evident design. C-pillar does not flow at all. In the Brooklands everything flows, everything is here because it has to be there and it couldn't be different.

Not the case here.

The Brooklands still reigns for me. No doubt here.

That's what BMW wanted to do: move Rolls-Royce design to 21st century. Away from too classic look.

Bentley (Arnage, Azure, Brooklands) look like a car of the past. But something for the people who love classic looks, while the the RR is more intriguing with its modernized design. And IMO definitely having MUCH greater presence than any car of same kind.

Hahaha I guess you're right, the gap between the roof and a pillar does makes it look like a drophead coupe with a roof that doesn't open. It does quite ruin the appeal. The profile does look good but in the other pictures the lines aren't very graceful, mostly because it's really a sedan with 2 doors.

BMW are famous for terrible colour choices when it comes to official pictures, and were in charge of the press shots. This colour doesn't do the car good in anyway. They should have used ocean blue, racing green or some other non-generic colour.

But I have to give RR applause for that ceiling, looks very cozy.

They have achieved that quite well. I have had a good look at these photos and this is a tremendous vehicle inside and out!!! BMW have done a brillaint job with Rolls Royce. I love the window form of the Rolls Royce coupe. It is very striking and powerful whilst maintaining complete Rolls Royce form.

All this mumbo jumbo about which era the car is from, modern vs classic.....yawn, its matterless. All that matters is if the car looks good or not, and so far it doesn't. I too would have the DHC and a Brooklands for my ultra-luxury coupe.

I'm not digging this at all. There's a 'smugness' to BMW-era Rolls designs which really irks me.

An all out fantastic piece of machinery. Still, I'd take the Brooklands over this.
