It might look a bit kitsch from the outside, but the interior, although a bit showy, is made to a standard that Mercedes and BMW should take note of - it makes the level of quality in the Mercedes W220 S600 Pullmann look pathetic.

Mercedes might not see the Phaeton as much of a threat but they sure could learn a thing or two about build quality from VW's interiors.

Look real plastic - Plastic-looking veneers, loose-fitting leather and a generally ugly interior design - The W220 S600 Pullmann was a real low point for Mercedes IMO - it's like a manifesto of tackiness and tastelessness.

Those seats don't even look that comfortable... They look like a tight fit.... Not as wide as say a Maybach's...

I wouldn't usually say this but I think the Maybach's interior is more tasteful than this Phaeton's.

I like the club V.I.P. atmosphere of the Phantom much much more. Sit in the two and you'll know exactly what it is that I'm saying.
