If in times like these, you are realistically looking to buy a brand new Porsche or other premium brand - then times like these don't really affect you because most likely you are well insulated financially, and have a track record of making wise financial decisions to get you in such an enviable position.

You have a strawman argument, because it is these financially astute people who buy these are at premium prices and pay for the higher priced options - who incedently I would not call dumbasses are who premium brands like Porsche target. If they buy more power to them, if they hold off more power to them

Moral here is - If you have to ask the price (or complain about it) then you probably can't afford it and its time to move on.

So I am moving on as I know these cars beyond desire alone - are out of my league :-)

I will say one thing though. It's not about having money, it's how you choose to spend it. The statement, "if you have to ask, then you can't afford it" isn't always true because sometimes things are so ludicrously priced that I just have to ask "how much for this crap?" Just because I, and many others, have money doesn't mean we'll blindly pay whatever we are asked to pay. I could easily afford a 911 or an S-class if I am to take my father's offer and run his business. I choose not to because I want to establish my own identity.
