The Mondeo and Mazda 6 share components!

The insignia is a GM product, so no, they don't share the chassis!!

Now that Opel’s - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER is out in the open the next new models to look forward to from GM’s Euro division is likely to be a new wagon variant as well as a possible coupe flagship. Opel has sold wagon versions of the previous Vectra (the model the Insignia replaces) for a number of generations so the chances of the new five-door hatchback are high but as for the coupe the only indications that such a model will be produced was the unveiling of the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER at last year’s Geneva Motor Show.

These latest renderings give us a good indication as to what the new models could look like. As expected, the Insignia wagon would simply feature an extended cabin, longer roofline and a conventional rear-lifting tailgate. Its likely release date will be approximately one year after the launch of the sedan.

Like the sedan, three petrol engines ranging from a four-cylinder 140hp unit to a V6 with 260hp will be available. Two new 2.0L direct-injection diesel engines will also be offered with power outputs of either 130hp or 160hp. In time, the Insignia engine lineup will be extended with an EcoFLEX version offering ultra-low CO2 emissions in addition to other, more powerful variants. There are even rumors of a high-performance twin-turbo petrol V6 engine making its way into a new AWD range-topper.

As for the new coupe, the car will likely be based on the GTC concept but as this rendering suggests the styling will be toned down significantly.
The new Insignia sedan will make its official debut on the 22nd of July at the London Motor Show.

I like the design of the front but I feel the rear doesn't match with it. Also I don't like the fact that the back end reminds me of an E60.

First Official Pics of Opel Insignia’s Interior

These are the very first official shots of the soon-to-be-launched Opel Insignia’s interior, or to be precise, the UK market Insignia that bears the Vauxhall logo. While we had the chance to get a glimpse of the mid-size sedan’s interior in a series of leaked (low-res) images back in April, these official pictures from Vauxhall allow us to see the cabin in high-resolution detail.

The Insignia, which could come to the States as a Saturn, features a relatively sporty wrap around interior design that has nothing in common with the Vectra’s ultra conservative cabin. Highlights include chronometer-inspired instruments and a unique instrument cluster lighting which is illuminated white, but on pressing the ‘Sport’ button, the lighting turns red to match the surrounding illumination. -Continued

“This is a paradigm shift for Vauxhall,” says John Puskar, Executive Director of Interior Design at GM Europe. “We wanted to create interior environments for all our future vehicles that are warm, inviting and sporty. The Insignia is the first evidence of this philosophy.”

“Every detail was meticulously thought through,” says Jochen Werner, Insignia’s Assistant Chief Interior Designer. “We even tipped the infotainment centre at a 30 degree angle to allow the centre console to flow and give the car’s cabin a greater feeling of spaciousness.”

Along with the official high-res interior pics, Vauxhall also released new exterior images of the Insignia in a lusty black colour.

Ok wait... I am assuming that GM owns both Vauxhall and Opel but one is British and the other is German? But they are essentially the same cars? Am I getting this right??

This is going to make a real good Saturn. The interior is really nice. Now bring on that Coupe concept.

Yep.

The vehicle is an Opel (made in Germany) ...but assembled and sold in Britain as a Vauxhall ...and also sold in Australia as a Holden.

That's an awful lot of buttons on the dash. I hope there won't be a GM homologation programme for Opel; their cars are good as they are.

Quite an attractive car, but some elements don't work for me. The front end headlight and grill treatment seem a bit 'blunt' for instance.
