| Secret Agent. Would you be one? -
11-21-2006, 10:35 PM
After watching James Bond, and being a huge James Bond fan, I cannot help, like others, wonder what it would be like to be like Bond. Unfortunately I don't think anyone on this planet will ever know that because of the fact that no government will invest so much capital on one particular agent. Furthermore, no government will cough up the money for an Aston Martin, unlimited CC bills, and give a license to kill.
However, with all that said and one, there are agents of governments that act in favor of their government in order to protect them. Protecting them comes in different degrees. For example, one might be an agent and be working from the Central Intelligence Agencies headquarters form a computer, or one can be in the field gathering information. Whatever it is, would any of you consider or want to be some sort of agent for your respective governments in the future? | | | | | Global Moderator

Only if i get to drive free Aston Martin's
Seriously though, i wouldn't want to be a field Agent, too crazy for me. I'm more of a technical guy, the guy who set the plans up for the mission, the guy who's at home base telling the agents what to do when they are out there. | | | | | Devotee

My friend for instance is the behind the scenes guy. For some reason, I always want to be out in the field. I never want to be the guy on the computer or the guy behind the scenes. | | | | | Global Moderator

Michael, I thought the same too after I watched James Bond.
But then I realised, I don't have what it takes to be a secret agent. I'm neither brave nor handsome, I don't usually take risks, etc. But yes, I do dream about being a secret agent. | | | | | Devotee

Back in 1987, I was with my family visiting the town of Vyborg in what was then the Soviet Union. (Before WW II, the town belonged to Finland and my grandmother lived there.) We were a busload of Finns and a nice, elderly English couple. One of the places we visited was the tower of the old castle there, which provided a nice (or not so nice...) view of the city. However, our hosts were a bit concerned about the fact that we'd also get a nice view of the military installations nearby, so we were not allowed to take our cameras with us. Once up, me and my sister noticed now the English guy was trying to light a cigarette without any success, repeatedly clicking on his lighter. We sneaked up on him and realized that it was in fact not a lighter at all, but a small camera disguised as one, and that he was actually photographing the military stuff that could be seen there. The same thing was repeated later on a couple of occasions. Was this guy a bona fide spy or just some old fool playing with his life, that I don't know, but for a 9-year-old seeing all this was just about the coolest thing ever.
But to answer your question: No, not really. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to MikeJ For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic

I lack virtually every characteristic nessicary to be a secret agent, so no. For me, It's a daunting challenge just to get to work on time.
To compensate I'll buy an Omega Seamaster and maybe try to bed some married women. | | | | | Connoisseur

But to answer your question: No, not really. | Nice story. Gives one some imagination on what really exists... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
