| "Rich are getting richer, poor are getting poorer"??? -

This is a big issue here in the states today w/ a large portion of the countries wealth being controlled by a tiny fraction of the popularion(40% of the nations wealth is controlled by 1% of the nations people). Regardless I think that the individual is responsible for the outcome of their lives and what happens along the way. Mom always told me from when I was small, "anything worth while isn't easy". | | | | | Trendsetter

If you are born into family with 3rd or 4th generation of unemployment that places no real importance on education and the only successful people you see around you are drug pushers and pimps .........well I think it is slightly dismissive and unfair to completely blame that person if they don't prosper in life.
It is easy to say that people are responsible for their outcome in life ...but it is not always quite as easy as that ....some people try very hard, work very hard, and yet never manage to succeed. There are also issues of prejudice, whether that be racial, gender, disability, or even the way a person speaks - life can be very unfair at times to some people - I don't think we should always assume it's their own fault.

All I can hope for is winning the lottery until that happen (if that happen) Im just glad to know people that own expensive cars and thanks to them I can drive cars I can only dream about buying.
I do have a job and I can survive with the salary but it wont give me money to buy a Ferrari. But hey thats okey, I think I will survive | | | | | Fanatic

That's cool, Ferraris are overrated anyway
Good you're content to live a lifestyle that can be sustained on what you earn. As much as this is a forum for car fans, and German (typically expensive) car fans no less, there are more important things in life than driving a nice car.
Heck, like we saw in that other thread, the more possessions you get, the more problems will come, not least from other people.
When it's time to die, I am certain that nobody will wish that they drove their car once more, or that they had a more expensive one. They will want their nearest and dearest to be around, because people are what matter in life. So IMO you might as well live life like that every day instead of waiting until that day.
Oh yeah, and sort of back on topic.. I think the disparity between rich and poor is certainly getting greater. I also agree that people are responsible for their actions, but they are not responsible for the outcomes or the consequences, nor are they responsible for their circumstances. | | | | | Devotee
