Simple Question. Are you willing to donate your organs??? Answer truthfully. Finding out why people don't want to donate there organs is one of my current research studies.
I think an situation will make this easier. You are T-Boned in a car accident. Massive head injuries. Diagnosed as brain dead and only the ventilator is keeping your organs oxygenated. Are your organs going to be donated or are you going to be buried with them?
Obviously, alot of the time donation is possible. I'm just curious to know the numbers on who would give away there organs if they where to die well before their time... I was going to post it in CZ, but I thought that most organ donations result from motor vehicle accidents. So my thinking was that it would be good see the results from the car enthuists crowd we have here. I can move it over if you would like? | | | | | Contributor

I was going to send you a pm about this topic cause of the recent discussion in the media about this issue, as well as your opinion on legalising the sale of human organs. | | | | | Fanatic

Certainly not putting people in economic troubles in severe health risk if they decide to donate a kidney for example just for the money to survive. Having an organ removed is a very risky business. I don't think the life changing decision should down to money!
I do however, believe that organ donation should become mandatory. I don't see how you should be able to say no to saving someone elses life when your needs for the organs have long expired.
It is a very debatable topic organ donation. Luckily you can't donate brains.

What is your opinion on this matter? | Personally, I don't agree with the legalising of organ sales, that just creates far more problem than solutions. Mandatory organ donation will be the sensible thing to do, but it is forceful legislation and it will be met with a lot of resistance. I heard even if you are a donor, your family can refuse that when you have passed away.
Btw, how many doctors in your hospitals are donors? | | | | | Contributor

Of course, I will.
I've been on the post mortem donor list for years now.
To me it's a human duty.
IMO all people with health insurance should automatically be registered as post mortem donors - unless they explicitly demand to remove their name from the list due eg. personal, medical or religious matters.
Some countries already practice this.
It's very difficult to bother the folks of the deceived person about the organ donation - they are already in a shock, and I'm sure most of them are not able to decide rationally & allow the donation.
So, when I'm a dead body - and my organs are still useful - they'll be given to other people to prolong their lives (or make their lives easier).
The ultimate act of humanity performed. Then I'll rest in peace. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to EnI For This Useful Post: | | | Global Moderator

What's mine is mine, and I should be able to have the freedom of choice to decide what do with my body.
