I have a problem with my Internet connection that's been really getting on my nerves. The problem is very simple:
My Internet connection will work for about five minutes before (for some reason) "disconnecting" or "hanging". The only way for me to "restart" or "reconnect" it is to either hit the
Refresh button multiple times on my browser (Mozilla Firefox). That
usually will get it going again. Then after five minutes the connection screws up again and I find myself hitting the refresh button again like mad. Sometimes this will enable my Internet connection to resume, at other times I need to wait in excess of five minutes (I am serious) before this piece of crap connection will resume again. Like just before I wanted to post this my connection stoped working for over 10 minutes (I was ready to throw my computer against the wall, seriously...).
Now, the same problem is also affecting my moms computer (Windows Vista) to a smaller degree, except it isn't as bad as mine. And for the record, my neighbours Internet connection is fine.
The problem started after my mother got her new computer with Vista. Several people who "know a bit about computers" said it might be some sort of software conflict between XP and Vista...
Here are my questions:
1) Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is wrong?
2) Is it a router problem?
3) Is there anything I can do on my computer to fix this problem?
4) Could it really be that there is a conflict between my computer (XP) and my mother's (Vista)?
Thanks.
