My MSN sucks!!!!!!! why?

Been problem for years on my computer and now Im getting tired of it. Disconnect, connect, disconnect, connect, disconnect, connect. This happen always and a lot. I have no solution for it. I tried do reinstall it but it still sucks.

What is wrong here?
Is there another program I can use that work together with MSN and my contacts. A similar program to MSN (forget about ICQ.).

Im trying a program called Pidgin. Working fine and its more stable.

i have both msn and yahoo msger. Yahoo, IMO, is much much more stable, but 98% of my contacts use msn. Msn have been pretty shiity. mine hangs and lags, most of the time.

haven't had such problems with Yahoo.

Which one do you use, because there are a few versions out there:

Windows Messenger 4.7 (pre-installed with XP)
MSN Messenger (up to version 7)
Windows Live Messenger (newest incarnation, version 8)

The pre-installed one must be removed ASAP, it's a piece of crap. Further, if you install MSN (as of version 5) or Live, it doesn't update the pre-install, but it's a seperate install with common registry keys (good job MS, sarcasm of course) which leads to application contention in certain setups.

To remove version 4.7, type the following in the run command ox:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

MSN worked fine for me with a few minor glitches here and there.

Windows Live Msg works fine for me, under XP+SP2 and Vista! No hangs, no disconnect, all good.

Is it still glitchy?

If yes... is it maybe a network issue? When the glitches occur, make sure to verify your network connection. Maybe that's what causing the glitches?! Short network connects/disconnects aren't always noticed when just brosing the web since you don't need a persistent connection for the web, while they will trigger MSN everytime since the network status changes.
