Is anyone here doing their SATs soon? My test is next Saturday and I'm completely unprepared.

I know some of you have done your SATs before, could I ask for some tips please?

It's weird you are doing your SATs, now, because we did them about 6 years a go, and again 3 years ago. Must be the same name for different exams!

BTW, do you go to school on Saturdays then?

In my country we can choose to take or not to take SATs, I want to take it because I may be going to the US to study. I'm taking it concurrently with my A Levels which I'm studying for now, the exam is at the end of this year. I'm doing the very first SAT, I think there are several levels?

Saturdays? Sometimes if I need to... But the SAT is totally private study.

There were for the ones I did, at the first ones I did a level 5 was really good, and a level 6 needed a harder paper and if you got that you were very clever.

For the more recent SATs, a level 7 was really good, and a level 8 needed a harder paper. I'm sure the ones you are doing are marked on a different level considering you are so much older!

The SAT's are taken by most juinors (11th) grade here in the US. This is what is used my almost every college to see your aptitude and is very crucial in the acceptance into any school. I am just fisnishing up my sophomore year (10th) and the school I go to is a college preperatory school so I have been taking a SAT course all this year for the English and then another course next year for math. Many kids here also take a course out of school if they go to a public school so that they can get prepared.

I took the ACTs, never the SATs though. Most midwestern schools don't require applicants to take SATs.

It is wierd though that people outside of the US take them.

James are you taking the writing portion as well, or is that required now days?

hmm thats interesting i never really knew that schools out west took the act.
Do they also accept the SAT?

They do, I think they prefer the ACT though.

I think its the coasts that usually use the SAT as their primary test.

The SAT is an international exam. Just like how people outside the UK take the GCSE O and A Levels (particularly in Commonwealth countries and ex-British colonies, like Singapore).

I'm not sure what I'm taking actually, just an English and Math component, but I think I am taking some writing test, yes.

It was a cinch.
