Unhappy R.I.P. - 2 teens die in horrific crash - 04-27-2007, 07:26 PM

Two Nassau teenagers were killed on the Northern State Parkway Thursday night in a horrific traffic accident that left emergency responders searching a wide area because the force of the crash ejected the two from the car, officials said.

Driver Giacomo Alfieri, 17, of Whaleneck Drive in Merrick and passenger Michael Moniz, 17, of Grand Avenue in Bellmore, were killed in a one-car crash at 8:27 p.m. on the parkway in Dix Hills, officials said.

Click here to find out more!
Both were seniors at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, according to a spokesman for the Bellmore-Merrick School District.

The two were driving eastbound in a 2007 BMW at a high rate of speed when Alfieri lost control, veered into the center median, crashed into a deep culvert and hit a tree, according to the New York State Police. The accident happened near Exit 42, Deer Park Avenue.

"We got called for an extrication, but obviously there was nothing we could do when we got here," Dix Hills Fire Chief Larry Feld said at the scene. "They got ejected out of the car."

Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office.

School material was found in the wreckage.

"I've been doing this 23 1/2 years, and this has to be in the top two of the worst accidents I've seen," Feld said.

State Police were investigating the cause of the accident.

From the looks of things it was an E90 (bumper and kidney grill). Im guessing the cause of the accident was high speed and loss of control. But please guys, let this serve as a reminder to take it easy behind the wheel and drive with a mature mind.

Its very tragic and hope the victims of the crash rest in peace and may the all-mighty make it easier on them and their families

It is the E92, the shape of the rear lights and the rear quater panel shows it is the 2 door coupe. This sort of thing happens when you give two 17 year old teenager a brand new BMW coupe to drive around. When you are driving at speed way faster than what is sensible on those roads even the supreme handling of the BMW and all its electronic ads cannot help you. All these safety equipments, the ultra strong monocoque with ultra high strength steel cannot save the idiots behind the wheel. To smash the car into so many pieces they must be going at insane speed. Thank god they didn't take out other drivers on the road

You're right monster, definately an E92.

I hope their families get throught this, and thank goodness they didn't hit any other cars. As for the deceased, well.. you're bloody idiots!

Well in all honesty, I wouldnt call them idiots...I know that I did alot of stupid things when I first started driving in my teens and I guess everyone does these stupid things... I guess some ppl are just unfortunate and dont realise that their curiosity of trying to drive fast can cost them their lives.

I guess they weren't wearing seatbelts if they were ejected out the car.

I must have been going very fast to loose the car and and cause this much damage.

I'm only 17 and passed my test, I'd say I'm a fast driver but I do slow down for the corners, seems like these people didn't!

Seatbelt or not, with a crash like this, they would have been thrown out of the car with their seat+seatbelt.

Wow...the car is in like a million pieces, crazy! My condolences to the family.

See, while I've done stupid things in my car I've barely ever done stupid things with people in my car.

My motto and many other racers motto: Race alone, Die Alone. Meaning we only race when we don't have someone in the car with us because it's one thing to die doing something stupid but it's totally different to kill someone with you.

Very unfortunate event. I can imagine the parents of the kid driving would feel a hell of a lot of guilt. Buying the kid a car that is obviously too powerful for them to handle. All teens think they're invincible, and it's a proven fact that younger people drive a lot more recklessly when they have their friends in the car. Showing off, of course.

Yes, but you can endanger the people outside your car: pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers.
