I reckon once sport auto get hold of the GTR they will lap the 'ring in about 7 mins 50.
See, this is the bias of european drivers. Every test I've seen of the European mags with a Japanese cars, it always underperforms. Seriously man, the BestMotoring guy did the NSX-R in under 8min, it's the same damn lap as SporAuto does. Everyone says, "Best Motoring didn't complete the lap", but I read somewhere where it said that unless your are participating in a race, no one completes the full lap, that includes ALL the magaizines.

The europeans never seem to be able to get the times of the Japanese drivers, why? Is it that the Japanese guys are better drivers or just the outright bias of European drivers?

And, No, Nissan isn't lying. You should watch the clip that they put up before saying something as ridiculous as you just did.

Re: Nissan GT-R (Official pics & info)

Sportauto with the famous driver Horst has driven the new Skyline on N-ring.

7:50 --- 157.787 km/h -- Nissan GT-R, 480 PS/1750 kg, Horst von Saurma, partially wet track (sport auto 12/07)

Horst von Saurma, chief editor of sport auto magazine, completed about 100 kms with the new Nissan GT-R at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Best time he achieved was a 7:50 on a partiallly wet track especially at one of the key passages so called Kesselchen.

With all the electronic aids the handling is absolutely perfect, the driver doens´t feel how the drive-by-wire system really works as the GT-R stay on track like on rails, always has grip, doesn´t lose control, higly computerized and a perfect racer for the street. A time less than 7:40 is pretty much optimistic, 7:50 shows the true potential of the car. And when the price stays at the announced level, it is a real bargain.

IMO, 7:50 is a lot more likely considering its weigh and horsepower in relation to its neighboring cars.

And, No, Nissan isn't lying. You should watch the clip that they put up before saying something as ridiculous as you just did.
European mags never seem to have any issues with the Evos or STI's spanking european cars in every comparison....

Also best motoring are super biased towards japanese cars. Ive seen clips were cars with a much higher power to weight ratio get outdragged by weaker and just as heavy japanese vehicles

Also if the R34 can do the 'ring in under 8 mins how come it gets beat by other cars that are slower round the 'ring than it but sevarely faster around other tracks?

Europeans unlike americans are not such big badge snobs. A real european car enthusiast could not give a hoot what badge their vehicles is wearing. Especially us brits, the only time we are biased is when it includes a british car such as an aston. All other times we are not.

The UK is one of the STI's and Evo's biggest markets. We imported loads of supras and skylines. We love the integra type R and we love importing jap spec STI's. Dont give me this crap that we are biased against japanese cars or badge snobs. The UK buys more SEAT Cupras than anywhere else in the world. As long as it goes fast and its a reasonable price us car enthusiasts will buy it.

Yes you are right that no one of the public can complete a full lap, I never mentioned that though. The NSX-R probably did do it under 8 mins as sport auto did it in like 8 mins 9 or something like that did they not?

No what im saying is that Nissan are being misleading. When they do their runs they stick the car on slicks, and with GT-R's of the past they also up the boost. Therefore they can do such a quick time but joe public never will with a GT-R straight out the factory.

Exactly going by the competition and the GT-R's power to weight ratio the time nissan say they have done is pretty much impossible on road legal tires. Therefore I reckon on semi racings it will do about 7 mins 45 secs and will only go the time nissan claimed with slick tires or cut slicks.

First of all for anyone to even deny the STi or the EVO their rights as some of the baddest, fastest cars around track will be idiotic. So you agree that STi and EVO are fast cars around track? So then, if those are fast cars, then why is it that the car that most know as being faster then them on track, the Skyline GT-R, is slower than them in eurpean mags? That doesn't make sense now does it. I hope you know that the GT-R was so badass that it was pretty much banned from racing in JGTC because it destroyed everything on track there. Even HKS Evo and Greddy STi couldt take on the Nismo Skylines, yet the Evo and STi are badasses in europe but the car that demolishes them is mediocre? That doesn't even make sense.

Now, considering we, the US, are pretty much the biggest market in the world and we also buy the most amount of imported cars, how the F__k are you going to call the US biased when you just said that since you guys in the UK buy a lot of imports in the UK means you guys aren't biased. That right there is a contradictory statement. We haven't bought SEATs and STI and EVOs and NSX-R and others because they don't sell them here. Simple. We in the US, love speed thats why we get larger engines then the rest of the world. Your whole point is moot.

Unless you have proof, this is nothing but FUD.

It's not just about power to weight ratio...the new car also has a new engine, AWD system, new suspension and of course new DSG style gearbox, CFD is also very low at .27. The fact that you're only going by power to weight ratio shows your lack of knowledge.

All I will say is this. This is coming from the Technical Director/Engineer of the car. From the 2 drivers that they had. Their main driver, got the time of 7:38, while their secondary driver got the times between 7:40-7:43. He said himself that most others will get around 7:45-7:50. So, given the right driver the time of 7:38 is possible. Their test was not done on slicks...watch the video carefully. I don't think Nissan is stupid enough to screw the launch of this important car just to add a few seconds to the car's potential.
