Future MB models from insider

I talked to some guy who works at MB, he told me a few things regarding the future MB models.

- NO A-class, that one has ended with the current model
- B class remains, little bigger
- New model, known internally as A3 killer, hatchback, front end looks a lot like the new E coupé, he saw some drawings but as everybody knows, they are hard to convert to reality
- Small version of the CLS, even smaller than the C-class, to compete with 1 series coupé.
- small SUV still on schedule

But I hope, if there will be such a small SUV - that it doesn't look like a small GLK, even smaller G-Class! The design wouldn't work on a small car…it would look like a shoe box.

And Q3.

BTW, there have been various reports on the following models on A / B platform coming from MB:

A-class - still using a sandwich platform; electric & hybrid cars. Something to rival Audi A2 successor. Current A-class lifeycle can be prolonged, or A-class is ditched for a few years - till the electric drive & pug-in hybrid tech is ready for production.

B-class - models to directly rival A3 & 1-series: a hatch, a coupe-sedan, a cabrio, a small SUV & a mini-van (similar to current B-class. A small roadster also possible.

Re: Future MB models from insider

Sound exactly what I have in mind. I knew that either the B or A-class would be dropped in favour for a proper hatch, though I imagined that the A-class would remain as it's more known than the B. On the other hand in don't believe in the Mini CLS plan, especially since the car will be smaller than the C-class. The E-class is pretty much the smallest sized platform to develop a four door coupe on with a usable back seat. Anything smaller than the E is simply an impossibility in the name of usability.

- NO A-Class is false. The new A-Class and B-Class will be the same models with many variants, three and five doors, cabrio, roadster and SUV.
- The new models for A3 killer will be the new CLC Sportcoupé and, alsi, there will be a new coupe based in C-Class as CLK, smaller than the new E Coupe.
- The Small version of the CLS smaller than the C-class is the CLE and will be based in C-Class. It will be a variant of C-Class as Passat CC and Audi A5 Sportback (five doors): Mercedes CLE will have four doors.

- Small SUV will be a variant of the new A-Class.
