So that info claims that the new M1 (based on Vision concept car) is already green lighted and will be available in 2012? I find that hard to believe since I don't think there's been any rumors or solid info on a production version of the Vision concept car? Unless I've been missing it of course.

Anyone have any solid info?

The only indication is that the Vision was the second mindengined concept within a year.

2012 is right around the corner. It would be fantastic news but seems to good to be true.

Yes, BMW usually have a 18 month launch on the internet but this type of car is different, here they do not need that type of buzz, they most probably would have secured great sales through direct contact with potential buyers...

That said, I don't think this will happen. Not as a traditional sportscar. Maybe as that I3 diesel... which would be a shame as the chassis is there and so is the engines.

Scott talked about that car. It will be a 1er base sportscar for the citiys. He told the car will be 380 degrees different then the old M1 . The idea is ok maybe the car will sell good but my opinion is that BMW shouldnt call it M1 and bring A REAL M1 with twinturbo v10 and 600ps with active aerodynamic

So this is the car Scott was talking about yesterday? When he just called it an M compact sports car? So the article is wrong in calling it an "M1" ?

no maybe they call this art of copact sportscar M1 but i think a 1,5 litre engine with 200 ps dont hould called M1
