Yes the 130i is awesome. Also as a street car it is awesome. But with some tweaks an 130i is easy made into a trackcar.

I also have had a 135i but i sold after 3 mounts ownership. Could not get used to the turbolag. And saw the engine temp rising when driven to hard.

I still think the atmo 3.0 engine alu mag is the best and strongest engine in the bmw lineup today for use on track which is stil affordable.

The M3 V8 engine is also great. But the M3 base is to heavy to begin with to convert a road m3 to a track M3. That s why i started off with a 130i.

I saw my E90 M3 standing next to e30 3 series. I could not help it i was laughing. I said to my friends i bought a 5 series with a 3 series badge.

I always love the smaller cars with the 6 cil atmo s in it. They are just fantastic to throw around corners.

I also have driven the M3 CSL that s one of my fouvorites too.

I have driven porsches too gt3 etc. But i always come back to bmw. But if bmw does not make good atmo engines anymore then the only way to go is GT3 route and that s with pain in my hart.

I can t get why bmw ///M does not see this.

The 1 series is the best base for a thru M car. Everything else in the line up is too heavy or to big to begin with.
This is so very true. The perfect base for an M-car today would be the 1-series coupe. Very strange that we don't get the 1-series coupe with the 265 hp I6.

That is the kind of CSL we are asking for. But based on the input you have provided elswehere in this thread, such a car would kill the M3 straight off... we can't have that, now can we?

yes maybe.

But it will be thru image maker which you will see lots of tracks following porsche GT3. The ring would be full of those bmw.

I have a bmw E90 M3 but when i go to the nurburging for a few laps. I take my wifes 130i street car. I think that says enough.

bmwownage is on a distinguished road
The 135i coupe itself can be said to be on M3 terms in terms of performance, if they did build a 1series M, well, that thing will probably smoke the M3? I guess BMW is not ready for that, the current M3 is perfect, but then 1series shares something like 90% of parts with the 3, with a lighter weight, it would be a M3 killer.

I just think M should ditch making X5M and X6M. Those things are not part of "committed to providing enthusiasts with the type of dynamic, track-ready and fun-to-drive cars"... come on, using electronics to make the car "feel" lighter by playing tricks on power/torque distribution is not dynamic and track-ready... Glad that a M7 is ruled out, but why Z4??? Isn't this ridiculous? The most sporty BMW model that rivals Porsches will not get a M version..??????? And hope they won't waste time building stuff like 3/5seriesGT M, those things are people movers, and if someone wants a fast one simply get one with a big V8, not the M treatment right? I dont' see the point of having a 5series GT being proper "track-ready", and standard BMWs themsevles are fun enough to drive. Spend the money on a 1series hatch M and Z4M instead!

People who buys BMWs are apparently only after the brand image, what they seem to really want is a Mercedes.
