![]() ![]() | Re: Direction of "M" Division I am not a turbo driver. Turbo is ok for diesels and daily drives. But fur sheer fun on the road/track nothing feels better than a high rev atmo engine. If M does not deliver that anymore i better spend my money on something else. Turbo engine when used very hard (trackdays) will get very hot and overheat much faster than atmo engines. Atmo engine s are far more better race engines last much longer. We have 130i race cup in holland. The cup cars are driven very hard in 3 years time not one 130i engine in race pace has given up. Almost standard 130i engine reved up to 7000rpm lap after lap even on hot days. Try that with a 135i/335i. Guys who do trackdays only trackdays have overheating problems with them. Imagine if you go racing with these engines. Imagine a tuned 135i/335i it will overheat and give problems even more. Atmo engines are by far the best engines if you give them a hard time. I don t care if a tuned 135i/335i overtakes a new M3 on a straight road. The fun is in corners agility and high rev engines which last on track and lets not forget the Throttle response from M high rev atmo engines. For lazy daily drive a turbo engine is fine. For setting youre hair on fire it s not. High rev atmo anytime. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Direction of "M" Division advevo your situation is totally understandable. car builders are facing hard times, emission laws are really putting a hard pressure onto them. efficiency is top priority, even some of the traditions need to be turned over to meet requirements; and turbos are simply the (only) answers for sporty but efficient driving. the minority of sportcar owners are taking their car to the track, this is why turbos are even considered. its definitly sad that pureism gets lost under all those circumstances. the future for puristic racing orientated cars in the premium mainstream segment is definitly not a bright one. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Direction of "M" Division jack thats why i bought an m3 v8 sedan. It will proberly be one of the last cars with such an engine. If nothing new comes like that i am keeping my m3 and be very careful with it and it wil be there for a long time if nothing new highrev atmo comes along. An M 6cil high rev atmo in a one series is also fine by me. I have had a 135i sold it after 10.000 km driven. I was so easily bored with that engine. All turbo s feel the same even the bmw ones with twins Compared to an M high rev atmo engine turbo s for me are boring. I know it s all Co2 goverment shit. If i was bmw headquarters i would say. Have you seen thousands of people out of work to the goverment. Because if you go on like this our factory goes to a country were we don t have those CO2 restrictions goodbye. It s plain crazy what happens right now. Goverment takes away a piece of our life. We like cars we like fast ones we like high rev engines. Of course it s good to make clean engine s. But you can overdo it also and kill car fun. What about ferrari lambo aston etc. They can t put a 1.2 turbo engine in it. Those cars are sold because of the emotion they give. I am so sad about this whole Co2. All fun cars will be gone in a matter of years. |
