This is a homage project ... Imagination runs wild ... Nothing to do with real world though.

Remember the BMW Concept Coupe Mille Miglia 2006? Similar homage project.

Re: BMW M1 Hommage Concept

As Eni stated it is a Hommage to 30 years of the M1.

There is no plans for production but if there were it would be an "Efficient Dynamics" showcase for environmental technology either with hydrogen or Hybrid power producing 0 emissions. in fact someone should be concerned about using the copyrighted by BMW - "M-Zero" tag.

What you have seen so far with the current "Efficient Dynamics" tech. Is just the tip of the iceberg. There are far many more developments still to come to production which will take BMW further from the competition in environmental tech.

Purists may hate it and traditionalists may despise the new direction , but it is the path BMW are on and are not going to stray from it just because someone has brought out another 15 minute vanity project.

Re: Sneak Peek! BMW M1 Concept at Villa d'Este

I really don't know what to make of this. They show homage to a late 70's car by creating something which looks like a early/mid-90's motor show concept car...
That said, it looks a whole lot better than most of what BMW has in production these days...

Doesn't matter what's the technology behind (think there should be a turbo engine involved), it matters that this car will make it into series production. I hope BMW just doesn't want to tell more about this car yet.
In other words: I doubt BMW builds such an one off car without any further plans. Reithofer already said that there will be another supercar BMW anytime in the future. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Best regards, south

Well there is the new Z8/Z10 around the corner which will offer the super performance comparable with the GT3 and R8. just what we are all waiting for.

If the new Z8 will be built as a R8 or Gt3 competitor, then everything's fine. I'm just afraid the Z8 might weigh too much.

It was already explained: it's just a hommage to the original M1. Nothing more. Just like MM 2006 was a hommage to the original 328 MM. No furter agendas with either of hommage concepts.
It's just a way BMW celebrating anniversaries - and letting design department to let their (theme: retro) imagination wild.

Yes, a supercar. But not a mid-engined car. M10 ... An M-exclusive 2-seater coupe based on "new Z8" 2-seater roadster with folding hardtop. Something to fight SL BlackSeries, Astons, Ferraries, Porsches, R8 etc.
But first Z8 has to be launched, and BMW have to win F1 championship.

Mind: the "Z8 / M10" cars will feature extreme lightweight composite construction - since the cars will be "the most sporty-performance" cars in BMW model line. Even the Z8 folding roof will be "revolutionary". Yet the "M10" will be even lighter - with CF panels, and more Mg/Al parts.
