This is no Shooting Brake. Neither is the Bentley CGT or the Porsche 911. Or the E-Type Coupe.

A shoothing brake is not a hatch, or a car with no visible boot. It's a two-door Station-Wagon. The Volvo P1800 ES is a famous example.

Which means... four-doors Shooting Brake is nothing else than... a conventional Station-Wagon. *Busted!*

Most famous Shotting Brakes are Aston's.

I like the Dutch Scaglietti Shooting Brake...

Mercedes' Concept Faszination is a SHooting Brake, too.

So EnI wrote it right? A 6er with CS cues, small-ish clubman suiced doors and shooting brake shape at the rear?.

Well a coupe traditionally has two doors and is lower to the ground. Recent examples by MB and especially BMW (X6) have proven they are more liberal with their definitions. Therefore I would like to think their interpretation of shooting-brake is not a 2 door wagon, yet a coupeish hatch (looking to Alfa Brera or Jaguar XK for inspiration). The fact that it has rear suicide doors doesn't have to affect the silhouette. Really, the difference between a shooting-brake and a hatchback/liftback coupe is only in the length of its booty, and perhaps its sloping angle.

I think Coupe based on its french derivative(couper) does not necessarily mean a 2 door car but rather a cut-down closed body type. So the original definition of a coupe is a vehicle of a short body type, and the interpretation of this definition is up to the each manufacturer to express.

I am not attached to these definitions. Coupe means, today, a more dynamic shape and especially roofline. It has to look like a Coupe.

The X6 is, for me, a SUV Coupe. Like the CLS is a Coupe, too.

4-door shooting brake may sound silly (why not saying a wagon?). But if the rear doors are hidden or discreet (egg. smaller suicide-doors), then why not?

The Concept Fascination is a good example. It's a shooting brake. But give it rear suicide-doors, without touching its shape. Will it radically change its appearance? No, it will stay a shooting brake, for me.

However, the name GT will stand (for a BMW) for misshaped geriatric-mobile, hardly fitting a nice sporty Coupe/Wagon.

Giving a name "GT" just because it's a nich vehicle is silly, and the X6 should've been called that too if that's the case. And too bad for the resonance of this prestigious name...

Yeah, AFAIK. The vehicle we are discussing here it is the "GT-6", a variant of the 6er.

GT 6 Will be a Coupe in it's most progressive form .
Which mean all the elegance and dynamsim you would expect from the design of a Coupe.

The GT 3 will be more like a Shooting Break, A progression of a typical Sports wagon still with five doors but not with too much utility character.

I wonder if Mercedes will eventually go through with a shooting break of the CLS. They designed one for the current series , hence the inclusion of the idea behind the Concept Fascination.

MINI SpaceBox is a 5dr MINI Concept without the raised height of the MINI X CrossOver or Four Wheel Drive.
Think of such small functional cars such as the Citroen C3 Picasso or indeed the VW UP Space Concept and you can see how this segment is becoming extremely popular. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/233664/

Think along the lines of this illustration and you get the conclusion MINI are working to.

I still doubt about a lot of things. Scott, you don´t say clearly how the roof of the GT6 is going to be. The 6er has a classic Coupe roof, but the A7 has a look more like a sportback. So Will the GT6 feature that cain of roof, or instead of that will be just a 6er with clubman doors and a different look?.

Also don´t know what to think at all about the GT7 and GT1, I still the CS based GT7 under works?, And is the GT1 named to substitue the 3 door 1er hatch?.
