The only bad news I managed to get was the forecast for 2009 (red numbers!).

Sorry, but as a messenger I usually only get the good news & the hype. D'uh! It's a Creative Marketing after all. Which marketing delivers bad news actually? None!

Insider news? Not in a pure form.
As said many times: it's a Creative Marketing.
Exactly. I'm not trying to take sides or anything. I'm just as disapointed as some of you guys are that this car isn't going to production. But Eni is right.

1. You don't know when the car was axed. That decision could have been 1 month ago or yesterday. Who knows?

2. This is not the kind of information that everyone at BMW would get like Eni said, so give them a break guys.

In another sense, it shows the realism of decisions car makers have to make these days which fans here are not sensitive too. Another example is the current CLC which people moaned about how MB 'facelifted' rather than developing an all new model. At the end of the day, tough decisions have to be made. AND not by what 'fans' want, but economic realities and and predicted CUSTOMERS response to retain profitability
It's not as cheap as you think. Yes the platform is there, but interior parts would have been pretty different. Plus the plan was to have the car built by ///M with the help of RR (is that correct?)

The X5 and X6 might are very similiar cars, but take my word on that one, in some aspects, completely different monsters... well in my line of work anyway

To make this car sporty enough a great amount of lightweight materials will have to be used, suspension heavily remodeled, etc etc.

Not to mention the biggest expenses: marketing expenses.

Cars like this one fits in conjuncture, not recession times. It's a victim of though economy & financial situation.

Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT

SO what does a true german car fan look forward to with BMW in the coming years?

umm....

1er ( not yet plus its not really that exciting)
3er ( still a couple of years left)
5er ( same as 3er)
6er ( i guess this is what we look forward to ..but its atleast 1 year away)
7er (brand new)
X3 ( more than 1 year left.. and unexciting)
X5 ( new)
X6 ( new)

and as far as M modells go..
I guess the next big thing is the M5.. ( ohh lord thats like 2011 at earliest..)

I guess we all should enjoy the new Z4 and the M version of it ( will there be one?)..
cause after that..things will dry up like a raisin for a loooooooooong time..
