I can deny this.

The car is deep in development.

What's currently being reconsidered is a large roadster (new Z8). X2 also about to be put on ice for a while. X4 SportsActivitySedan still has a green light for the time being: X3 development is compatible with X4 concept. X7 plans are completely buried.

Also: BMW engineers got a task to develop new 3er platform compatible with 5dr coupe body!!!

My sources say BMW Board of Management are leaning towards 4er "revival": this time as 5dr coupe. Something similar to upcoming A5 Sportback.

****

More resources are transfered to electric MINI project, Isetta micro-car, diesel-hybrids, and further EfficientDynamics solutions, and of course new turbo-engines. Also in development: new super-efficient manual gearbox!

More importantly - since there are only trucks in the pipe (which cancellation only makes us happy) - what will come instead?

I wish they just cancel out all the X concepts....
I see less and less of a purpose to produce so many X variants
Although I can see that X4 makes sense in a way since it will be based on the new x3 platform, so less R&D budget wasted.

perhaps BMW is thinking to produce a 3 series shooting brake? (or they will slap 4 foors and name it a 4er like EnI said?)

Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT

More instigated crap from the media.

The production model of the CS Concept remains in development , Top end Z Roadster less so.
More focus on smaller models especially on the 1er Coupe as plans for upgraded performance models for both ends of the spectrum are planned before the 1st generation ends.
A Z2 Roadster has been given the greenlight to commence development.

Z4? There may be an M model as BMW will evaluate it this proposal after this car goes on sale. If it becomes the success the car is very much promising then you will see how things turn out.

Efficient Dynamics is very much in the forefront of development for all BMW products. As I said before what is available today pales in comparison to what is on board for tomorrow.
M-Division will be the pinnacle of Efficient Dynamics and will launch the first production performance car with KERS technology.

Project-i is gathering speed with many designs being limited to a chosen few , the next stage begins. Work with Fiat and Alfa Romeo commences on a platform for such variants that will also include the next MINI - Speaking of which are you ready for the "Progressive Activity MINI"?

BMW still plans to be at the forefront of the premium market and believe that you can succeed at this by concentrating on the core products and
not on image exercises, The best image you can have is if you are working for your core market. vanity projects only fullfill the privilledged.

Interesting. I hope the car will come with rubber overall, gloves and boots protecting the driver from electrocution.

That matter has been sorted out and to be honest seeing scott using the word Kers is ridiculous, i guess this will be another "Our cars incorporate directly inspired F1 technologies" crap marketing.

I recall you bashed the hell out of the a5 Sportback. Will you do the same to this 4er or is it different because it's a Bmw?
