BMW planning second Progressive Activity Sedan

During September’s official future strategy presentation BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer revealed plans for several all-new models including a design study dubbed the Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS). Details were brief but we were given an obscure design brief for the new car, which is said to highlight efficient packaging methods and intelligent functionalities.

Latest reports claim BMW is planning a second and smaller PAS to be released after the arrival of the first version at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Speaking with Automotive News Europe, BMW exec Klaus Draeger explained that if the first PAS becomes a success then a second car based on the same design is inevitable.
Draeger also confirmed the name of the new range would start with the letter ‘V’ in the same way that the letter ‘Z’ is reserved for sports models and ‘X’ for the SUV range.
The PAS is described by Draeger as combining the interior of the 5-series saloon with the spacious body of a hatch and with coupe styling thrown in to retain a sporty look.

Re: BMW planning second Progressive Activity Sedan

So they are going with the V-designation (instead of F-designation) after all?

No.

There will be "F" series.

F for functionality ... futurism ... fastback ...

So does that mean there will be both F- and V-Series or why did Draeger talk about V-Series?

Where did Draeger talk about V - series?
I would like to see his quote.
From what I know he just said BMW were still choosing a new name, and the PAS models would certainly NOT be named V series.

Mind that BMW have registered a whole F range already (from F2 to F9), while no activities recorded regarding V-series registration.

Because of the registrations I'm also having a hard time believing this article. Maybe there's a misunderstanding. I tried to find the Draeger interview from Automotive News Europe but it requires registration...

Yes, there is.

He said for ANE BMW were still in process of choosing a name for the new series, but he could confirm the name would definitely NOT start with a "V".

And I'm telling you: it will be "F" series. Most probably F5 & F3 - since they're marketing the vehicle as a "sedan".

Re: BMW planning second Progressive Activity Sedan

Bear in mind that in German, V is phonetically a F and W is a V !!!
Example with Volkswagen, which is phonetically in German "Folksvagen"

True.

But not the case here. There will be "F" family, yet no "V".
Motorauthority misquoted Dr. Draeger. They forget the "NOT".
