So CS is showcasing some details that will be used on upcoming models like 7er, X6, F5, Z4, 8er etc - especially the grille idea, surface design, back design etc. While general shape (especially profile) shows new 8er / 9er / Z9 - just like Z9 GT Concept was a model for E63 6er.

Well yes, that is logical. I am really looking forward to seeing the next 7 series.

Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

Eni/Scott, will next-gen BMW's have the same type of i-drive / navigation screen integrated into the dash as in the concept? The concept has a short wide screen above the dials with no second hump.

I would assume that the production version of this concept would come with heads-up display standard because it looks like a fairly small screen (dispite it's width) which would be difficult to read, particularily for a nav system.

I was wondering this as well. Maybe a 3D hologram pops out of that little screen j/k

Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

I havent posted my ideas on this car yet but here it goes
When I first say the pictures my first reaction was god Dang this thing is aggressive, so from the beginning I loved it. Some certain small details now annoy me like the front could use some work to make it look a little better, The interior is top notch but im also wondering about the I drive screen and stuff
Overall i love this concept

Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

Regarding comments about CS Concept lacks originality:

all the elements are pure BMW - nothing new have been added.

Inspiration came from past BMW model like 8er, M1, Z8, and we can look even further back in the past. Or in the present: at current flame surfaced creatures with mean eyes with eyebrows, and "Bangle butts".

Mind this is an "evolutionary revolution" not "THE revolution" that happened with Z9 GT (and production versions of E65 & E63) & xCoupe (E85 Z4 production version) - adding new elements to BMW design: ie. eyebrows, "Bangle butt", flame surfacing.

CS offers nothing new - no revolutionary design elements. In this respect -yes - it lacks originality. But starting a new revolution wasn't the aim of this design study. And it is not the aim of future BMW design.

Future BMW design will be "evolution of the revolution" - all the current (and some past: eg. driver oriented dash) elements will be used, be refined, and sometimes reinterpreted (eg. the kidney grille).

What will be revolutionary in future BMW designs will be new niche cars - there will be revolutionary shapes, not design elements. I'm talking about X6 and X4 SAC, and F5 and F3 SC.

Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

Here is a link to a video from the Shanghai Motor show...its in german and you have to wait almost 5 minutes until the CS is shown. (Looks stunning on display !) They interview Adrian van Hooydonk about the car
I paraphrase : - you are looking at a dream car for our customers and ourselves...not approved yet for production....waiting for comments from customers during the show.. car gives the observer a direct link into the minds of the BMW design team...shows lots of design elements which will be used in upcoming models...
I hope the link works :

Not approved yet, hehehe.

It was same case with RR EX100 - waiting for customer reactions.
And same case with Z9 GT - although the decision to built 6er had already been taken the final design for 6er was not chosen yet - yet influenced 6er design A LOT.

Elements that will be used in future BMW models - my speculation: rearlights X6, broken character line F5, wide kidney grille 7er, air intake Z-series, silhouette 8er.
