AutoZeitung reporting about Audi Q6 Sport Activity Coupe - a competitior of upcoming BMW X6 (and also of Porsche Cayenne Mk2, Infiniti FX Mk2 etc).

Few weeks ago I wrote this:

Mind that a near future will bring a completely new vehicle segment: a SAC segment. SAC = Sport Activity Coupe.

SAC is a crossover between a SAV and a coupe sports car. Much lower than current SAVs, but still quite high seating position compared to regular cars / sport coupes. SAC appearence will be very coupeish, very sporty compared to SAVs.

BMW are working on their interpretation of SAC which will come out as X6 in 2008 (also smaller X4 is possible later in the future).

Porsche Cayenne Mk2 will follow the SAC formula, not the SAV one anymore - since the SAC fits better in the Porsche portfolio than regular SAV.

Also the next Infiniti FX will be even more coupeish, and will fit SAC segment perfectly.

Also other brands are moving towards SAC segment rapidly: remember the original VW Concept A showcar? And Hyundai HCD-9 Talus concept?

Also there are rumours MB are working on thier SAC interpretation (MLC or GLC perhaps?). Not to mention Audi have already registered the Q6 name in Germany.

We might see a Q6 but in the distant future and when i say distant that means 2009 the earlier.

Btw, Mercedes - Benz registered names "GLC-Klasse" ; "GLC-Class" ; "Classe GLC" few weeks ago in Germany (they registered "GLC" even earlier).

So, after GL (GeländeLuxus), we are going to see also a GLK (GeländeLuxusKompakt; GLK / GLK - Klasse / GLK - Class / Classe GLK was registred even earlier; even more - they have already registered GLK220, GLK280, GLK320, GLK350, GLK63 & GLK65) - a X3 competitor, and ...

... GLC (GeländeLuxusCoupe) - a Sport Activity Coupe, a X6 competitor.






So, X6 will be a trendsetter, others will follow soon. Just like they did in ML, X3 & CLS case.
