Interesting concept! I'm most excited about the transmission, 8-speed S tronic!

Re: Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro Concept Revealed!

Sexy. I see some A3 cabrio design cues in the front and rear. This is a morph of the Q5 and A3. Two concepts in one.

I really like the interior, but the rear is too fat.

Re: Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro Concept Revealed!

Now that I've had some more time to look at the details I very much like what I see. I would love to hear what Hussein and Beemer B773ER think about the design!

I personally like the recurring "line" or "pattern" that can be found in many parts of the car. (I don't know so much about design, so it could be that I've made it all up in my mind and that some of the lines only exist inside my head ) I hope this helps to visualize what I mean:

There is another line which follows the underside of the front lights and goes down until it joins the second lowest line and then correspondingly goes up again. I didn't draw it to avoid the picture getting too messy.

Re: Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro Concept Revealed!

Despite the rumors, Audi didn't show off its X3-fighter here in LA. Instead, the quad-ringed quattro folks pulled the curtains on a drop-top version of the Cross Coupe Quattro concept it originally debuted in Shanghai. Designed by the automaker's studio in Santa Monica, CA, Audi maintains that the Cross Cabriolet Quattro concept is distinctly American in its styling, with a jacked up ride height, elongated wheelbase and retractable soft-top.

As mentioned previously, power comes courtesy of a diesel mill putting 240 HP and 369 lb.-ft. of torque through all four wheels. Audi says the Cross Coupe will make it to 60 in 7.2-seconds, and if you tap the "Drive Select" option, fuel economy is boosted by an additional ten-percent.

While both the presentation and styling of the concept left us cold, some of the interior appointments piqued our curiosity. The MMI infotainment system combines traditional GPS functionality with Google Earth, to provide a real-time rendering of the world in which it's traveling, and while wind noise is always an issue with convertibles, Audi decided the best way to facilitate conversation within the cabin was to employ an intercom system that picks up the voices of the occupants and amplifies them through the Bang & Olufsen sound system.

According to Audi, the aforementioned X3-competitor – the Q5 – will debut sometime next year, and the Cross Coupe Quattro and its drop-top sibling foretell the design direction the automaker plans to take.

I have to say that this is a stunning concept. If the A3 ragtop and the Q5 are going to look like this then Audi is going to hit pay dirt, even here in the U.S.

Re: Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro Concept Revealed!

That's a real beauty right there. One of the best looking Audi concepts I've seen.
