Is there a reason why Audi used the BMW-debuted psycadelic body tape to try and hide shapes and lines when it's real easy to see where all the lines are on the vehicle ?

Looks like this will be the second Audi to receive the hexagonal grille.

The overall proportions are fairly nice, though it doesn't have the Mini's 'hunkered down' low to the ground stance and proportions, but I guess it'll make up for that by offering a little extra room.
I wonder if this car will even be offered without the S-line sporty styling...

Did BMW patent this style of camouflage? I don't think so, and I don't think it's anything new either.

Cute, very cute. The shape resembles that of the Fiat 500 and I will not fall of my chair when I find out that Audi will be offering a similar customization program with a highly decorative interior. I think sales will be spectacular, especially in these economic times when consumers have limited funds for luxuries. Mercedes should fear this car as I anticipate it to be a big nail in the coffin for the SMART car.

Brussels plant where A1 is built has an annual production capacity of 150k units. So that's also the maximum annual sales number that can be reached.
Since a company can only sell as much vehicles as produced. Initially Audi expected to sell 100k of A1 per year, yet last summer they increased the plans: at least 120k unit sales annually - but that was before the crises kicked in.

It looks more like Fiat 126 to me.

Regarding customization: sure there will be some. But I would be surprised there will be some tacky options like in the case of MINI or F500. A1 is not some funky retro car after all. It's more a competitor to Alfa Romeo MiTo - premium without tacky funkiness ala F500 / MINI. MINI & F500 are icons and tacky opitions fits their characters.
