Ok, very simple. Post movies you saw recently in here and give your opinion about it. Feel free to even rate them on a scale of 10 (1 = pure trash, 5 = average, 10 = excellent).
I'll start... Room 1408
With John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson
Overall, very entertaining. It had its share of scary moments and really kept me frightened and at the edge of my seat. I was a little disappointed/confused at the ending but a solid performance from John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson coupled to some frighty moments make me give this movie an 8/10. The Defender
With Dolph Lundgren and Jerry Springer (Yes, Jerry Springer!)
Oh dear Lord, where to start? HORRIBLE low budget garbage. The only reason I saw this movie was because it actually good decent ratings on IMDB. I figured it couldn't be so bad then, since most Dolph L. movies turned out to be rather weak and terrible in the past. The joke was on me. This film sucked ass badly. Dolph plays a government agent who has to protect the secretary of defense. The story itself is so sh*tty and unbelievably cheesy I can't go describing it any further from this point on for fear of spilling out the chicken I just ate. Better look it up on IMDB!
Cheap special effects, none of the "soldiers" in this movie moved or acted like military men (it was obvious that they didn't get military training). Dolph is never seen changing the clip on his hand gun despite firing around like crazy. Plus, Dolph really knows how to hit the bad guys from something like 150-200 meters out with a simple hand gun. Anyone who knows anything about guns can tell you that a hand gun is accurate to something like 15-20 meters maximum!
The ending was so bad too. Wow, I never expected that! Looks like the writers knew they created a sh*t film and said "To hell with it!" and just decided to do that. Better watch this film if you really want to see what I mean.
Terrible. 1/10 The Patriot
With Steven Seagal
When you rent a Steven Seagal movie you expect non-stop kickass action, right? Well, this movie turned out to be about the benefits of Native American herbal medicines in the face of an extremely deadly virus. There were basically zero scenes of Steven kicking ass. The plot, story, acting and special effects were atrocious. Pleaaaaaaaaaaaase!
Forgive me father for I have sinned, I rented a Steven Segal film! Lately I've been disgusted with the latest Steven Seagal films. They're horrible, all of them. I think his only good movie is Under Siege and Exit Wounds. The rest? Pure trash.
1/10 Derailed
With Jean Claude van Damme and Laura Harring
I rented this one day expecting to see JCVD kicking ass. Boy was I wrong. The story is about a deadly virus that a female thief has stolen from the Slovakian government and is willing to sell to Western governments. JCVD is sent in to escort her into Germany. Sadly the train gets hijacked by a group of terrorists who want the virus. You can figure out the rest, it's been done before (Hint: Under Siege 2 rip off). Well, this movie sucked. JCVD hardly fights, and when he does it's usually a bunch of pansy ass boxing moves. No split, no kickboxing...nothing. Just lame boxing and gun firing scenes. The story and acting were crap.
Let me give you an example of how bad this movie was ( SPOILER): On the train, a bad guy takes a passenger hostage and shoots him in the head inside a compartment filled with other hostages. A few people wince but basically nobody is crying or screaming out in fear. A few scenes later, that same bad guy takes a violin from a poor female musician passenger and proceeds to smash it up into a thousand pieces. Now we see people crying, screaming and begging for their lives!
^I mean ***?^ Nobody gave a rats ass when the hostage was shot, but now that some damn violin was busted into a thousand fragments people begin to understand that their lives are in danger? Huh? Am I missing something here? Retarded...

some movies I hired recently: Knocked Up
This was by far the most brilliant comdey of 2007. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasnt already watched it. 8/10 The Island
Yet another great movie from 2007! Scarlett Johansson was just sizzling and there was quite a decent story and special effects. 8/10 I am Legend
good movie but the ending was abit abrupt. However , Will Smith's acting was brilliant 6/10 Beowulf
This movie was shockingly horrible! It was soo soo bad that I actually walked out the theatre after 30 mins. By far the most over rated movie of 2007 even though you get to see Angelina Jolie's tata's. 0/10 88 Minutes
Was an okay'ish movie for killing time starring Al Pachino. Didnt quite blow my socks off. 4/10
Cant think of anything else at the moment.

Juno
Like it. Cute movie. Great soundtrack. Michael Clayton
Interesting & enjoyable to watch. Excellent play by all actors. Kill Bill 1 & 2
I like to re-watch Tarantino movies. To me the guy is a genius & my favorite director.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
A kinky musical from the 70s. Silly movie, but have a lot of fun watching performances & listening to catchy songs.

It's absolutely great! I really like the story, it is fascinating to see the history of the "Corleone" family. My absolutely favourite one is the second! It's great how the combine the "retrospection" and the current act! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to ree For This Useful Post: | | | Enthusiast

I saw Cloverfield last weekend.
Did anyone else care to see that movie? I was dragged.
I don't know who the actors and actresses were, and their anonymity proved successful in a film like this.
Overall the movie (once again, another one!) could and should have ended better. Case in point: If you are going to start the movie off with a Property of US Government ID and give details of where and when the camcorder was retrieved, then you should have ended with the cameras coming out of first person "camera" narrative, and gave a debriefing to the generals watching it on their screen.
I know it wasn't the fugly thingy that hit the press play button! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to JadeVetti For This Useful Post: | | | Devotee

Halloween
Remake of the original, this one is directed by Rob Zombie. This film focus more on the early years of the killer psycho, Michael Myres.
The movie has no plot, it is all about a tall guy wearing a weird mask going on a slashing spree with his good old kitchen knife. I was expecting more violence and blood, but I wasn’t even scared. I will give it 2/10 because of the nude scene with the girls, otherwise it would have got a fat zero. Beowulf
I didn’t know much about this movie before hand so I thought it will be one of those movie similar to Shreak. Thank god I was dead wrong, this movie was surprisingly violent, definitely more violent and bloody than Halloween, but sadly the storyline is too typical and flat. There isn’t much plot development, but there was enough action going on to keep me interested for the entire length of the movie. It wasn’t a bad movie, just nothing really interesting. 5/10 National Treasure 2:
The first movie was brilliant, and predictably the second movie couldn’t match the first one for creativity. There are the usual riddles and tricky contraptions plus a decent good car chasing scene. You don’t really watch the movie for the plot anyway and although there are still a few surprises there is a overriding sense of “more of the same”. This movie will please the hardcore fans, but for me the producers could have tried something more daring. 6/10 I am Legend
I thought this movie will be similar something like 28days or 28weeks, but it is not. This focus a lot more on the main character and his gradual mental decay and despair. It isn’t an action packed movie, or a horror movie. There isn’t really much blood in the movie but the well timed suspense kept the audience interested for most part of the movie. I find this movie engaging, I guess it is because there is no background music, so you really feel like you are standing right next to Smith.
Overall I enjoyed it, more than I have expected. There isn’t much of a plot development, and the ending is just too short and not very well done. It felt a bit rushed. It won’t win an Oscar for the best film but it isn’t bad at all. 6.5/10 AvP2
If you want blood, and more violence, you got it. It is miles better than AvP but it just doesn't have the kind of suspense from the original Alien movies. I don’t particularly like how they set the story in a suburban American town because it is just a far too typical setting for these horror movies, and I do much prefer the sci-fi horror of the original Alien movie than these new AvP series. If you want mindless entertainment then this movie will do. I give it a solid 5.5/10 Million Dollar Baby
Watched it on TV a few days ago. It was a very wonderful, touching movie. Go and watch it. It deserves every bit of its 4 Oscar awards, including best movie. A 9/10 from me. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Monster For This Useful Post: | | | The Photo Phanatic

Thanks for reviews and tips, guys (and girls)!
Saw Disturbia last night, pretty good movie. Shia L.B. has a glorious career ahead of him. Great actor, natural charm and funniness...simply great. He was superb here and pretty good in Transformers too. Let's hope he doesn't need prescription sleeping pills!
Anyway, the movie was really tense and kept you on the edge most of the time. The love interest with Sarah Roemer wasn't overdone, so that's a big plus for me. The characters all interacted well with one another and the story was completely believable. Overall, a high-praised 9/10. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to cawimmer430 For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic
