Although subscribing to the stereotypical chick flick storyline of boy meets girl, boy loses girl and boy wins girl back, Music & Lyrics is a fun-loving, light-hearted and oh-so sweet intepretation of what music can do to blossoming love.
Hugh Grant in his charming, Brit self exalts the role of a defunked songwriter/singer perfectly, though one must wonder whether he had to gyrate his hips so much - a patented move by his band, Pop!, which was the epitome of pop culture in the 1980s. He also has this sublime English accent that never fails to melt the hearts of all girls - in or out of the movie.
Drew Barrymore plays a similar character like the one she perfected in 50 First Dates, that of an absent-minded, clueless and naive girl. She's just so cute in the movie, but her weirdness does come off as a little of a putoff.
The theme song of the movie is Way Back Into Love, take a look:
Overall, I give this movie a 3.5/5. It's not stunning good, but it did keep me awake on a Sunday night, and not only that, left me a sweet aftertaste that numbed the Monday blues somewhat.
Anyone else watched this movie, or plan to watch it?
i think people are sick of Hugh Grant playing the same role over and over again, so whenever he is in a new movie, people are expecting more of the same deal and don't bother to watch it.

There's probably some truth to that. I don't think I have seen Hugh Grant in anything other than a lighthearted love/comedy. The real reason I don't want to see this movie is because of Drew Barrymore. I have never liked her as an actress.

Haha yeah I guess you're right, but thanks for replying anyway.

Nonetheless, thank you for the review James.
I actually don't ever watch much of Hugh Grant, this is like my 2nd time? So he's still OK to me, nothing of the tiredness coming in yet.
If you don't like Drew as an actress, what do you like her as?
