First impressions is Ugh. It'll take getting used too. HSV kits are always so beefy. Its like 90% bodykit and 10% car.

The pics sorta look like CGs from an upcoming video game...

Never a big fan of Holden, and this doesn't help all that much. It's not bad, it's not great either.

Re: Holden unveils HSV E Series Clubsport R8, GTS, Senator Signature

That's ugly.

What's with those rear lights? The corner units on the new VE Commodore look fine, and are consistent with the car. These mid-level units are positioned so as to make it look stodgy, but they are also shaped and designed in a way that's not really consistent with the car's design.

The front is little more than a mishmash of inserts, strakes, fins and vents. Not too bad, but a little over the top, IMO. Side vents are nice, but I wonder whether they remembered to add the side indicator repeaters to them.

Overall, I'd really rather just have one of the normal VE Commodore variants. Or a completely unrelated car - but that's just trolling eh.

I believe so. It's the same engine in the C6 Corvette, so I'd suspect that it would be compliant with all necessary emissions standards around the world.

Re: Holden unveils HSV E Series Clubsport R8, GTS, Senator Signature

New super HSV to arrive at Sydney Motor Show?

A countdown timer has popped up at Holden’s HSV website, ominously ticking away the seconds until the Sydney Motor Show. Why, exactly, Holden’s high-performance division, is counting down, is somewhat less clear. A right-hand drive Corvette ZR-1 in HSV clothing? A new HSV-born Monaro? The production Camaro? Whatever it is, the company itself is billing the upcoming reveal as “the biggest moment in HSV’s first 20 years.” And that’s no small statement, considering the GTS (pictured), HSV’s current top-of-the-line model, is no slouch with 415hp (307kW), and a massive 406lb-ft (550Nm) of torque packaged in a practical, attractive sedan.
While the above options are among the more popular speculations floating around the internet, one of the most tantalizing is that HSV may be planning an LS7-powered Commodore. Already Americans are drooling in anticipation of the Pontiac G8 GT’s debut - and though it is a formidable sedan in it’s own right, a doppelganger to Holden’s VE Commodore SS, it’s not even the top-end Commodore SS-V. And the SS-V, itself a rip-snorting, 362hp beast, is still no match for what would be the most incredible power-to-dollar ratio this side of a Corvette Z06. Some of the more specific guesses hint that such a machine might sport GTS-R 427 badging, and boast 505hp (385kW) and a seismic 472lb-ft (640Nm) of torque. Extra tires not included.
Pictures of a HSV Ute and a Holden Commodore wagon were recently leaked, which means it’s likely we’ll see these models at the Sydney show, but they’re hardly fitting of the “biggest moment in 20 years” tag. Either way, we’ll know in 25 days, 8 hours, 56 minutes, 17 seconds…16…15…14.
