PISTONHEADS SCOOPS NEW ASTON MARTIN - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER This is the new Aston Martin DBS, scooped by PistonHeads. Ignore the faux DBRS9 badging, this car is destined to take over the mantle of Aston range-topper from the Vanquish.
The big coupe was spotted in a parking area close to an Autobahn in Germany where it had been undertaking some high speed testing before the model goes on sale in October of this year. Although the Vanquish line closes this summer, sources at Aston Martin are refusing to call the DBS a successor to the old flagship.
Precise details on its exact specification are still sketchy, but expect the 6.0 litre V12 to push out around 520bhp. Coupled with a weight loss of around 100kg, and the fitment of a six speed manual gearbox, the DBS is claimed to be the quickest production Aston ever.
Featuring a restyled DB9 body, and an aero kit made from carbon fibre, the DBS also sits 20mm lower than the standard DB9 and runs on new 20-inch alloys. Nevertheless, the chassis is still a variant of the VH alloy architecture that underpins both the DB9 and the V8 Vantage. As can be seen in one of the photos, carbon ceramic brake discs will be available.
Inside, there’s a host of new metals and soft materials, and a totally redesigned centre stack. We can't wait... - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Looks very nice, I'm sure in black it would look sick!
The only thing is, it's very similar to the DB9, with extra bodykit, I wonder if consumers will see there any point to spend so much more for this car over the DB9! | | | | | Executive

The entire Aston Martin range is now looking the same. It's not like they are ugly, oh no! Is just I would like to see a little bit more differentiation from each model. They all have the same front-end and the same side profile.
That said, however, I'm truly looking forward to the Rapide. | | | | | Expert

Looks great. Having said that, it's not a car that excites me.
Here in Vancouver, I've see many DB9's and have even seen a few V8 Vantages (a dark silver one frequents near my house)
They truly are gorgeous cars, but I don't know, I don't think I'd want one | | | | | Executive

This car looks awesome but I don't think this is the right replacement for the Vanquish. They need to make a Vanquish 2. | | | | | Connoisseur

If you own a Lamborghini, a Ferrari or even a Zonda, you're very likely labelled as a very fiesty young tycoon looking for attention or recognition of his new-found wealth... Many people don't want to be associated with that. I believe no brand comes as close to AM when representing the discerning gentleman. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
