Canadian Driver - Test Drive: 2007 Range Rover Supercharged

Our parting was tinged with sadness. Not so much because I liked the Range Rover Supercharged (which I did), but more because this specimen, once finished its press duties, will likely live out its days in an upscale driveway in some tony ‘hood.

The owners, like me, will play with the air suspension, call up the cool display that shows wheel articulation, and twirl the Terrain Response knob to see the cute little icons light up. But will this Range Rover ever turn a wheel in boonie-bashie anger? Probably not.

Its kinda like caging a beautiful wild animal, or sentencing Eric Clapton to play Mary Had a Little Lamb for the rest of his days.

A shame, really.

Though it doesn't look like it in these dirty real-world testing pics, this is IMO still the finest luxury SUV you can buy today.

I'd agree with you merc1, the interior is what does it for me, no SUV comes close, and with the excellent V8 diesel this even rivals the S class. It's got to be the best all rounder luxury car, considering what it can do off road!

I might would agree with that, but the S550 4Matic keeps coming to mind. Then again a S550 Matic can't do the mud and true off road thing like this Ranger can so you might be right. Your thinking on the Range Rover is exactly their marketing slant too.
