I don't think they are overrated in general (excluding the fanboys of course). They're not doing very well in Europe or even in Japan. It's really about the market differences. In NA (and especially US) Lexus came with a product that appealed to many people. There people gave more emphasis on value for money and excellent reliability, while in Europe people tend to support the big European brands and their long traditions.

It's not that Lexus didn't earn their success in the American market.

I personally find the models of the German trio more attractive but I think wishing bad luck or being glad about bad news from another manufacturer is somewhat naive.

Buddy, it's all fun.

I know that every brand has fanboys, but the Toyota/Lexus crowd has the most extreme fanboys in my experience. And I like reading their trash on Autolies when I need a laugh, but I've stopped posting there a long time ago and can completely ignore them anywhere and anytime. It's still fun to talk about them or read what they post.
