Brilliance Will Sell Cars in U.S. As Early as 2007

I guess we have the answer to the question I posed a few days ago, as of this morning's news, courtesy of Reuters. It looks like it's going to be Brilliance selling in the U.S. under it's own brand in substantial numbers and soon.

LINK HERE for the Reuters news item.

Wow. That's very, very soon. Plus, by January 2008, they're going to simultaneously be in the two largest markets in the world (U.S. and Europe) for the first time.

They are ambitious, if nothing else.

Still, it will be incredibly interesting to see how this all plays out. I cannot wait to look at one of the Brilliance cars in detail. I want to see just where they're at on the learning curve.

Yes true BMW only in China, I am sure BMW have given engineering advice to Brilliance all Western Auto Companies do

Brilliance is one of the best but I would so they are at the late Hyundai 1990s stage in terms of safety.

but they are developing their own engines

China Car Times is also a good resource for news and info Brendan

Well, I hope Brilliance doesn't get burned by their own ambition.

China Car Times - yes, I go there. And I also have Automotive News, which has a large China section every day. But, thanks for the tip.

Sorry to bump the old thread, but here's how it (BS6) did on EuroNCAP test:

News, Auto + Produkte- Crashtest Brilliance BS6: Völlig glanzlos - auto motor und sport

1 star for passengers protection and 3 stars for child protection.

Absolutely shocking. This is year 2007, not year 1950. I say the Chinese are 50 years behind in terms of car safety development. The passangers will be safer if they are sitting inside a tissue box than sitting in this car.

Unfortunately the pricing is likely to be unbelievably low, and will drive sales despite the obvious shortcommings of the vehicles.

Nevertheless, in time they'll sort themsleves out. And as I've said previously, just like the Koreans learned quicker then the Japanese, the Chinese will learn even faster. Globalisation (R&D sharing, parts sharing etc.) will facilitate this. And soon enough, the Indians will also be in on the act.

Mr. Moore, are you by any chance an Auto Analyst? You're always offering up interesting articles on the 'business' side of the Industry.

I believe he is. He manages a site called Autosavant, and Bruce writes there too.
