I didn't like the style at first either but it is slowly growing on me, especially the Avantgarde models like the one I drove. The original W221 Avantgarde E-Class still looks pretty good IMO though.

I live in the province, which is basically all farmland and forests so that explains all the green.

I hear cars in Scandinavia are quite "overpriced", so that probably explains why the B-Class you guys get is so expensive. However, the B200 CDI is the top of the line diesel B-Class.

hi, i'm new here. this is my first post. was reading thru one of the sites which linked to this thread. I liked your review very much cawimmer430, especially the video of the acceleration from standstill. actually have seen quite a few threads by you in other forums, am impressed, but i was just browsing thru this forum and i liked it so much that i joined it...btw ojis the b-170, standard specs is some 44K euros..and the high-end model we have is the e200 turbo which costs 63K euros...sigh..

This is a really great review of the E 280 CDI. Thank you cawimmer430 for present your impressions!
But I must say the E 280 with a 6-speed-manual is also a pleasure to drive. It is a bit unfortunate that the first gear has a very short gear transmission ratio. But at the Autobahn the CDI plays off his trumps. It is very comfortable (as you describe) and it's "only" consume between 8 to 10 litre.

I would move to the State of Washington...It rains alot there but at least they don't have as much as BS as we do in California and also less strict emission rules...plus I have lived there for a little bit over a year.

Anyway, the e280 cdi...just love it. how is the sound system? is there an option for logic 7 like in the 5 series? here in malaysia, you can't get any models with additional options
