It makes sense.

They're trying to show how far diesel technology has come in the last 20 years. Consider that old 190D with that meager horsepower rating and a fuel consumption of almost 8 liter per 100 km - and then look at the new C-Class with a modern diesel engine that has almost three times the horsepower output, is much faster and much more fuel efficient (and cleaner) too.

The "hybrid" 190D here with the old W201 body and new engine is just a "What if..." project that wants to demonstrate what the old car is capable off with a new diesel engine. I suppose this could come in quite handy in terms of "engine switching" since 190D's (and many other older diesel cars) are now outlawed in many German cities because of the Feinstaub issue. Of course, the cost of such an engine isn't cheap either and nobody will seriously consider exchanging an old diesel engine for a newer one. With the money you pay for such an engine you're probably better off getting a used and cleaner car or one of those affordable small Japanese or Korean or French economy hatches.

Does this 190D have new suspension?

So wheres the current C-class with an old 190D engine?

Either way this is a great idea, shame the engineers couldn't get the original clocks working, would be kinda cool if it had the new C-class clocks!

Don't need to go out to a dealer and get a new engine, just go to a scrap yard and get a salvaged one.

The 190 has pretty good suspension, it really doesn't need to have it replaced, just maybe a tweet or two is all.
