Lets dedicate this thread to the upcoming AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8 with rumers or any info you can find about this engine. Not only the M157 but any other future AMG engines Two articles say the M157 will have 600hp and 800nm (590lb-ft of torque) 1.http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/n...d_co.86810.htm 2. http://www.autorevue.cz/Bleskovky/AR.asp?ARI=5942

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8! These articles were released on a 6months period time. This is the latest news on the S63 AMG It says the S63 will use the Bi-Turbo M157 V8. 571hp and 590lb-ft! 800nm The other two articles say the S63 will use the M156 n/a V8. But seeing that Alpina is bringing the B7 to the US and maby other countries I would think MB would up the ante with more power and torque with this upcoming model. This is the latest news on the S63 AMG It says the S63 will use the Bi-Turbo M157 V8. 571hp and 590lb-ft! 800nm I'd say that this is correct. A heavier car like the S63, CL63 and SL63 need this new turbo V8 because the naturally aspirated version of the new 6.3L V8 doesn't have the torque to move these cars like the old supercharged 5.5L did. Makes sense to me. M

I saw in another post you stated that the S63 will come with a naturally aspirated engine and then a turbo engine later? That doesn't make sense to me if I read that right. I think that if they were going for n/a engines in the S/SL they would have debuted them already since the SL just got a FL and the S is brand new. M

What I was saying was that I dont know what the power figures will be but it will be naturally aspirated. The CLS63 had what a 4ps power increase from 510 to 514...the S63 might be pushed to produce I dont know...say...521ps...but from what I know so far it will be naturally aspirated. | |

Vivaki, do you have any ferther info (maby later than the articles I posted) that says the S63 will get the M156 n/a V8? I know one thing is for sure, the SL55 (and S55s) hp never exceeded the S600s hp and torque figures (even with the powerboosted SL) it`s equal to the S600`s. The S600 was always the Daddy of the HP and torque figures in MBs lineup. That might change with the S63. I`m not saying it will but it just might!! Remember, the S65 AMG is the Father of them all now so the S63 might be the new step between the S65 and S600 in it`s power and torque.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8! Ok, we'll see. I don't see that happening because of the hp wouldn't increase enough and the torque would be much, much less. Having a n/a V8 and a turbo one is no different from the current 5.5L V8 in various AMG cars. The only difference this time is that they'll have more n/a models because of the n/a motor's greater output. M

If I`m not mistaken the AMG tuners achieved 580hp with this CLK-DTM equiped with the same n/a M156 engine because of it special exhaust. Torque didn`t change though. ![]() There is no question that the S63 will have more HP than the S600 because MB likes to play power numbers with engine size. If thay do go with the n/a M156 V8 the torque will indeed be "weak" compared to the hp. The G7 cannot more than 542lb-ft so I would`n expect any more turque than the CLKs` 465lb-ft. Now if thay decided to go with the M157 thay would have to develope a new tranny to handle that predicted 590lb-ft torque or use the old 5-speed which would seem outdated imo.
