i dont think they will go and fiddle with the engine to bring it down 31hp.. when they have a ready to go at 481

Re: AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8!

i dont see how much a ready engine with 31hp more can cost them less than to make a downtuned version of the same..
anyways we will have to wait and see.. dont be afraid..

Re: AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8!

I think if the upcoming C63 has less hp than the CLK/E or whatever it is to keep it from outperforming those heavier models. A C63 with 481hp would no doubt outrun the CLK63 and likely be able to keep up with the E63 like the current SLK55 is able to keep up with the outgoing E55 up to a point because of that 7G tranny.

Just think a C63 with 481 hp would have more hp than the current E55! That is ridiculous power for a mere "C-Class"!!! Now that we have finally seen the E it is time for the CL (May) and the new C (Sept maybe?).

Re: AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8!

These power outputs you guys are suggesting are crazy! A 800bhp V12, where does that fit in, will it power some amazing Maybach and be put into the SLR? I know MB loves power, but 800bhp, that is insane! I remember thinking 604bhp was insane in the 65 models, this is just taking it to the next level. Also I have to ask, why are MB increasing the power again, it's not like the S65 has any competition!

A side note, I wonder what tuners will do, these power outputs put Brabus to shame!

Re: AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8!

I think a totally new V12 is still some years off and by then it may not be so popular to have such a large/powerful engine.

Re: AMG M157 Bi-Turbo V8!

everything depends on the chassi and new techs .. i dont think the other parts of a car can keep up with the pace of the engines.. and i dont think MB will put a 800hp engine in a car before its ready to cope with that power.. but it will happen..but not as soon as some of us may think..
engine development..amongst the germans ( especially MB) moves at a earth shattering speed..

This sounds like a sigh of relief! The C63 AMG will still be more powerful than the competition, you can bet on it.

I think the C-class AMG will be based off one of Mercedes new V8s, either the 4.6L or 5.5L.

I don't see why that would be the case, when the 6.2 V8 already used by AMG is so close in terms of size, it would be too costly! Also, if the CLK is able to take the engine, then why not the C class! Comparing the C55 amg and CLK 55 amg they both had the same engine with the same power, so why wouldn't that be the case for the new engine?
