Unhappy Mercedes-Benz quality increasing, dealer profit decreasing

Mercedes-Benz dealerships have not only been hit hard by the slow car sales in recent months, they are also losing money in the service department. It seems that the increased Mercedes quality is finally paying off for consumers - not so much for dealers. Compared to 5 or 6 years ago, dealers were making record profit for servicing Mercedes vehicles, which cost Daimler millions in warranty cost. Ever since, Mercedes has pledged to increase quality and to bring consumers back the trust in the Mercedes brand. It’s great to see that people have less quality issues these days, and just one way to see this is the decrease in customers visiting the service center, in some areas up to 30% less.

I would would go to MB Manhattan too, the only one owned by Mercedes.

I don't care if the dealers don't make any money. Working for them for four+ years I made even less.
The dealers have seen this change coming for the past two+ years so if it hits them hard now it is their own fault.

I've noticed in the past, a couple of years ago, whenever I went to the dealership there were cars all over the place and the service department was running flat out. The car was never ready on time etc. and it took at least two weeks to get an appointment. Now when I go, it's all quiet and relaxed and you can usually get an appointment within a week. The car is always ready and waiting!

And that is a bad thing, the service department will have even more time to think of ways to dig money out of your pockets.

Re: Mercedes-Benz quality increasing, dealer profit decreasing

This is a good thing, dealers will just have to cope with it. If quality didn't improve, eventually there would be no Mercedes to service at all, seeing as how people would have stopped buying them if the quality continued down the same road as "SKIMP" era.

Yup, I would have my little list of repairs I would always check when a 4/5+ year old car would come in. Brakes, spark plugs, flex disc, ball joints, belts, filters, brakes... all based off of the A/B service forms. I could find 20 hours of repairs on a W210 three years ago no problem. 211 it got a little harder to find easy repairs like those.
