Mercedes Stolen From Dealer's Lot

Just another example of how bad some customer service at Mercedes dealerships is. Actually my dad had his ML serviced there a couple of times and I usually pass by it when going back to Manhattan.

But really, can’t a dealership be held liable if a car is stolen from its lot?

Re: Mercedes Stolen From Dealer's Lot

That is unfortunate, but it isn't Mercedes Corporate fault and I don't think the response would be any different from any other brand dealership. Any car can be stolen from anywhere, a Benz dealer is not immune to thieves.

This is why people have insurance.

That said, the dealer could be nice and pay the insurance pay-off difference and get him into a new CL500, but I doubt it. They could at least apologize and give him a loaner C-Class for a time considering they did lose the freaking car in the first place!

I would have nothing else to do with that dealer and no one I know would either. In fact I'd lauch a one-man campaign to expose them to everyone, everywhere, all the time. I'd embarrass the hell out of them and hit them right where it hurts, their pockets. A few lost sales will do the trick.

Dare I say there are other factors at play here as to why they were so non-caring about what happened.

For a CL500 I would have kicked in their front window. The dealership looks like crap anyway.

Lastly, why can't the Tele-Aid people track a CL500? They should have been able to locate it shortly after it was stolen, by now the car has either been dismantled or its in a shipping crate for a far off country.

Re: Mercedes Stolen From Dealer's Lot

I think it would be fair for the Dealer's insurance company to cover this - like doctors in the US have to pay huge insurance to cover themselves in case of "accidents" during surgery etc..

Well I know the car owner's insurance would, but the dealer's insurance should too IMO, but I doubt it will.

Re: Mercedes Stolen From Dealer's Lot

ha....left all his stuff in it..? wow.......i would have taken anything valuable out of the car before getting it serviced...half the staff probably couldn't give a damn cuz a cl500 is more than they can afford...MB dealer should have atleast had cctv or something though

Re: Mercedes Stolen From Dealer's Lot

The thing about Mercedes dealers is that they seem to hire only folks with "good grades" instead of those nice people with decent grades and NICE PERSONALITY.

This is rediculous. If a dealer can't keep safe his cars, then...

This also happened in my town but I am not too familiar on the details. One of the salesmen simply told me that they had a few cars stolen from the dealer lot at night. This happened a few years ago and since then, nothing has ever been stolen again.
