 | What´s the story with MB engines for the future? Hey guys, i was thinking about the difference between the new BMW engines and the currents engines MB has for their entire line up, and i have been noticing that BMW engines are clener, more powerfull, and with less fuel consumption. So, i haven´t hear about any new MB engine for the next cars to be unveiled, for example E-Class and CLK. What can we expect?. |

| Re: What´s the story with MB enfines for the future? I dont see what BMW and AUdi are doing that MB arent? Ok i admit that some engines might drink slightly less.. But its still the same old tech.. same old fuels with some tweaks.. Nothing revolutionary from either Audi or BMW.. So i dont think the competition is running somewhare far from MB.. PS Is that supposed to be a bad thing Eni? Lol are you a car fan or a Inviromental concious politician? haha

| Re: What´s the story with MB enfines for the future? An efficient engine is useless if the car it is powering is too heavy. This is the case with Mercedes as their cars tend to be heavier than their competitors in most classes. MB has announced it is looking into making their cars lighter (aka "going on a diet"). Most current MB engines though are a mix of fairly new and older motors. The old engines will soon be replaced while the newer engines will probably get some tune-ups designed to improve performance while reducing fuel consumption. The '220 CDI engines are the ones I want to see removed from the market ASAP and replaced with the new 2.1-l CDI engine ASAP.

| Re: What´s the story with MB enfines for the future? Just look at this: ML 320 CDI... 224 hp... 9.3 l/100 km X5 3.0 sd... 286 hp... 8.2 l/100 km E 280... 231 hp... 9.3 l/100 km 530i... 272 hp... 7.7 l/ 100 km There is a BIG diference between BMW and Mercedes in termns of engines nowadays. |
