Re: What´s the story with MB enfines for the future?

Yeah i think mb has to change some off the engines.Especially the 350 petrol and the 320 cdi they both need turbos or twin turbos to compete with bmw.The 220cdi engine i think is quite good actually for the size it performs well the effeciency could be better though. Also i think as wimmer said mb cars need a diet.

There is a BIG diference between BMW and Mercedes in termns of engines nowadays.
What I have observed, is that BMW models usually consume much more in real life than what they claim. 520iA Touring consumed 10.8 liters/100 km in a Finnish test. BMW says it's only 7.0 l/100 km...

Re: What´s the story with MB enfines for the future?

Can the moderators change the typo in this thread from "enfine'' to ''engine''

I don't understand why MB doesn't seem to make up its mind with this direct injection technology, we have the CLS 350 CGI and the E 350 CGI but that is it, and they aren't the most powerful version of the 3.5 L engines.

Re: What´s the story with MB enfines for the future?

No, no .... enfine is a new revolutionary engine from MB labs.

.... something as imaginary as tri-turbo diesel & DiesOtto MB showed in the past ....

Seriously though, the tri turbo is a just far too complicated and the Diesotto engine will take at least another 10 years worth of development to make it a mass production reality.

Any word on the 2.0 litre inline turbo fours that are destined to replace the aging Kompressor engines in the C-Class?

Pretty much all cars drink more fuel than the factory claim. Carmakers drive like they have an egg under the pedals.
BMw claim my car drink 6.4liters/100km. The way I drive thats not possible but if I drive real economic I can get below 7.0liters/100km but I have never reached 6.4 liters. My fathers 325i with 218hp drinks 8.3liters/100km and he drives more economcial than I do.
Its very difficult to find a petrol car to drink as much as the carmakers state. However, diesel engines are more often accurate than petrol engines, dont ask me why though. But thats my personal experience and from cartests and different owners.

Yes but in this case it's almost four liters more...
