It's like a dragstrip where you try to get the best time.
Press "spacebar" to brake. (it also starts the game)
Press "arrow-up" to turn up the revs. (in order to get a better off the line launch, too much=wheelspin, too less=slow launch)
When the lights turn green release the "spacebar"/brake as quickly as possible to launch the car.
Then you look at the time how well you performed on the dragstrip.

It's a combination of both. I tried a few things out to see whether I could improve the "Time to Checkpoint". It turns out that the minimum time to checkpoint is 4.5 seconds which depends on your launch and thus your revs when taking off (wheelspin etc.). The rest is reaction speed which is the hardest part of the game.
Add the "Time to Checkpoint" and the "Reaction Time" together, you'll get the total "Elapsed Time" which happens to be your rank.

My strategy is keeping the revs in the middle of the scale and the rest is just reactionspeed.

Ok my first attemp. Elapsed time: 4.583 sec but still Im only placed 1725 out of 17318 players. Must be many that done it around 4.5 sec
