According to a recent interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel, Dieter
Zetsche, the new CEO of DaimlerChrysler AG, said he wanted to make simpler and faster decision making at the world's fifth biggest automaker.

He further elaborated that he wanted to make sure decisions were not made twice, once at the corporate level and again at the brand level, and added that Mercedes could learn from Chrysler how to be more efficient at production.

Despite previous speculation that the Mercedes Car Group may be cutting up to 8,000 jobs in addition to the 8,500 already planned, Zetsche failed to comment the subject, but during the interview he did point out that "Possibly for certain tasks you need fewer workers."
