Maybe the interior quality of the rest of the Mercedes sedan range is at such a high level, that any additional price increase will only bring marginal improvement to the interior. Sure the CL has more leather covering more part of the interior, but the leather feels the same as those used in the C-class. The COMMAND rotary control is bigger in the CL, but it still feels the same to use as that in the C-class. Little details like the way the air vents move and slide around feels exactly the same in the CL as in any other Mercedes. It is true that the design of the CL is unique and luxerious, but once you are inside the car, all these little details does matter and the CL feels just like any other Mercedes. It is not a serious criticism of the quality of the interior, it looks special but it should feel more special.

There has been a significant increase in diesel passenger car awareness in the Australian market, and we are seeing a gradual increase of diesel passenger cars on sale. The current C-class model line-up in Australia starts from the C200k, then the C220CDI, then the C280, and the range topping C320CDI. It is a bold move to have a diesel car as the range topper, epically in the compact luxury car segment where people still have a strong preference for petrol engine cars.

We do get the B-Class in here, it is much more popular than the A-class. My salesman said the B-class out sales the A-class almost 3 to 1. I just don't see why people will buy a B-class or an A-class.

Here in Australia we get the full model range, from A to GL. The GL is proven to be surprisingly popular, they are more common than expected. So far I have seen them only in black or silver. I still don't understand why people want a GL in Australia, as if an ML isn't big enough already.

Crud, it seems Australia has everything Singapore has not... Cheap cars, diesel cars, lots of land... Maybe I'll move there!

Re: Monster's visit to the MB showroom (Photos)

I still haven't learnt how to take good interior photos. My shots of the C and CL interior are a bit blurry and the lighting is all wrong.

Are you using a DSLR or regular digital camera?

With a digital camera you're pretty much screwed because you can't do anything except use flash for blur-free pictures - but sometimes you don't want to use flash. If you have a really steady hand or a tripod, it's no problem though.

On a DSLR, you can use a fast shutter speed, increase the ISO (in poor lighted conditions like that showroom) and perhaps increase the exposure settings a bit (-0.3 to -0.7 is what I use). This works for me.
