  | When do you think MB will release new V6's? I am looking at the C 350, but wondering when you guys think MB will release a new V6, and if it's anytime soon then I will wait. Anyone have any info?

| Re: When do you think MB will release new V6's? It'll come with the FL-SLK, I think. So middle of the 2008 probably, not before. With 306hp instead of 272, and maybe direct injection.

| Re: When do you think MB will release new V6's? Yep. The SLK350 brought the new V6 onto the scene before and it will do it again it seems. That 306hp figure will translate to a nice round 300hp for the U.S market (DIN --> SAE) in the C350, R350, E350, ML350, CLK350 and GLK350 for the 2009 model year. Can't wait. M

E 350 CGI with second-generation direct petrol injection In parallel with the E 300 BLUETEC, Mercedes-Benz is expanding its model range with the E 350 CGI, which features an ultra-modern direct-injection petrol engine with a spray-guided combustion process. This unit, the world’s first V6 petrol engine with this innovative combustion system and piezo-electric injection, was introduced in the CLS 350 CGI in spring 2006 and is now also available for the Saloon and Estate in the high-volume E-Class. Compared to the E 350, which remains in the range, the 215 kW/292 hp V-engine develops 20 hp more output and 15 newton metres more torque (365 Nm) while consuming ten percent less fuel. On an NEDC average the E 350 CGI Saloon, which accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, consumes just 8.7 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres. In both model variants the maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The E-Class as a technological trendsetter. # # # copied from Daimler - Home |

| Re: When do you think MB will release new V6's? Wolfgang nailed it. Mercedes already has a 292-horsepower version of the 3.5-l V6 but it's only available in the CLS350 CGI. CGI is a direct-injection system for the 3.5-l V6. I recall reading that Mercedes executives felt that there was no demand for a direct-injection motor in the C-Class, hence the "old" 3.5-l V6 with 272-horsepower was installed. Mind you, it's not underpowered: just "underpowered" when compared to the competition in this class. But hey, you'll beat a Cadillac CTS in a drag race!
