BMW 530i Review - 6 Months After Purchase

A year ago I decided I am finally in a financial position that warrants buying a BMW. Now because of my new job it is completely paid for by the practise. I decided I would purchase a...

That is very very impressive, even a Toyota Camry can only just match that figure. We get around 13.7L/100km from our E-class in city driving, and I thought that was economical for a big 6 cylinder german car.

Can't wait. Is Ford going to launch the Falcon there as well?

I guess this is mainl due to the fact when i drive to work in the morning most people are asleep so it is a very easy drive with little stops on the high/free way. So my consumption doesn't really take a beating compared to normal city driver. Very pleased with the engine from performance and economy point of view but!!!!

I don't think so but god I hope they do. We should start a thread on the new Falcon in the aussie car section??

The new gear shift lever is very good. It has a great shape that fits tightly into your hands. It reminds me abit of my electric razor which is good because I'm very fond of my electric razor. God, I dislike shaving very much!!!

The navigation system inclusive of iDrive and voice commands is a pearler. Works each and everytime I use it to a very high degree of satisfaction!!!

Servicing has been spotless. I;m good friends with my dealer at Brisbane so they look after me

Are you interested in purchasing a 5er yourself??

@ CC- Well it is a nice car and I would love one but I can't afford it unfortunetly. I'm only on around 65k a yr so I'm not in an economical position such as yourelf to afford it even if I did lease it per month.

Maybe oneday I'll own a Merc or a Beemer and have everyone scron at me

I see your favourite car is the BMW 7er from your profile - Will you be considering getting one of the new ones when it comes out?

No need for a 7er. The 5er is the perfect car for me. The model I have is also best suits me because it offers the best of both worlds in terms of peformance and economy. I'm looking forward to the new 5er as it looks very good already in the spyshots.

I would one day like to drive an X5 simply from the comfort and commanding position point of view. I also find them extremely stylish. A guy I work with has a 4.8i with the 20inch wheels in space grey. It's easily the best looking SUV on the market and one of the best looking cars IMO

Had a service on saturday. Still running smoothly.

Good to see you are back in the forum again

Dam that X5 sounds pretty sexy, any chance of taking a photo of it?

What did the mechanics do in the service and how much did it cost? Does the car computer display a list of items that needs to be checked and replaced?

Yes, I havent been very busy on the forum of late. New machine at work Good to be back, however!!!

I'll email the doctor and see if he will send me some pictures of the car. It's stunning! Remember when I was tossing up between a coupe and the X5. That car was the reason why! Still thinking of getting one next yer when my lease is up for the 5er. WIll think about that much later however.

It was just a checkup so to speak that comes free with the leasing term. The teleassist telematics I think it is called just prompts me when to bring the car in. Is it true that they then use the keyfob to check systems etc that may need a service, I'm not sure. I just drop off at 5am, get a taxi to work and picked it up at 7pm. I even was lucky enough to get one of the complementry muffins to scoff down on the ay to work. I'd buy the car for the muffins!

I'm not 100% sure but I swear I saw a X6 covered up in the back of the servicing area. I hope it's there to be shown at the Brisbane Motor Show. Would be a nice surprise from BMW...

I remember that time, I think I told you to go for the coupe, but now that your 6-series is coming soon, go for an X5 to scare others off the road, well at least that is what I wanted to do.

I am not sure if you are the type who developes an emotional bond with your cars, but the longer you have your car, the harder it is to let go. For me I will keep the 530i just because it is such a good car already.

Yeah, the keyfob stores the servicing information, Audi has something similar as well. Those complementry muffins are indeed very nice, and did you get a chance to drink some hot chocolate ? We got some before when we test drove a 530i a while ago.

That is more than likely. The dealers are probably having a private show for potential customers, it might miss the show though because that car might be doing private shows all around the country.
