My BMW 120i - Montego Blue

Well...this is it folks! After the long wait of 3 months...and even before that...the dream of owning a BMW...and following all the spy-shots and information provided by EnI and SCOTT27...my new and first ever BMW has finally arrived. She arrived by train from Leipzig two days ago. My...

Οpel is far better than Alfa Romeo in my opinion.

Congrats on the new ride. Looking forward to pics without all the packaging and not in an underground bunker delivery area!! The blue is beautiful. Makes me actually reconsider my AW fetish.

Well...it depends. In build quality OPEL is far better than Alfa Romeo...but on the road...the Alfa is better. Although now...Alfa's are getting slower and slower.

I've got some news. I went by the dealer today for some more paperwork. Since it is a holiday week in all of Greece, although the holiday is on Wednesday but we Greeks tend to celebrate it throughout the week so we can take some more time off work, the electrician is on a summer leave...so they can't program the car. BMW delivers their cars without them being programmed...and the only things that work are the driver's side window, engine and lights. Then when it arrives in the dealer...it gets programed so the A/C, radio etc can work.

So...official pick-up day is either Monday or Tuesday!

So more pictures to come...next week!

You think so???? I don't think Opel has a car to match the Alfa 159. Both in design and driving capabilities

Re: My BMW 120i - Montego Blue - 08-21-2007, 06:46 PM

First 85km in one afternoon with my new BMW!!!

I am very very very happy! New pictures are posted bellow. I apologize for the time of the pictures taken...but when I left the dealer the first thing I wanted to do is just drive...so at about 9PM when I stopped driving around...I decided to pull over and take some pictures. More will follow in broad daylight tomorrow probably.

OK...first impressions...the car phenomenal!!! Build quality is excellent...you feel that the car is just one solid piece. Steering feel is fantastic...and exactly equivalent like my Alfa 147...yes...like the Alfa!!! Although at very low speeds (below 30km/hr) it is very light...but that is OK since you don't need a heavy steering wheel at that speed. The faster you go...the harder it gets. It is extremely informative...you feel the road tingling your palm. So I am very pleased with the steering feel and quality...and that comes from the mouth (well...hands actually) of a previous Alfa owner.

Performance is also superb! Exactly what you would want from a 170hp car! It is not a pocket rocket like the 130i of course...but it pulls very very nice...and it even pulls great on 6th gear...since you would need something like this on long trips. So on the performance side...no complaints either! Of course the engine is new...and there's more to come as it breaks-in. The gearbox is also astonishing!! It is short...with an also short gearshift...and with a very nice feel to it when you shift gears.

The gear indicator is also very useful. Just glance at it...and it tells you when you need to shift gear...and which gear you should select.

Start/Stop is pretty fun...people look at you when you car switches off at traffic lights! The annoying thing is that the A/C filter smells after a while if the traffic light is long...but it is a nice little tool!

Brakes are also very, very good!!!

The best thing on the car is the handling! BMW has done a very nice job...and you feel that the car is very well balanced...it gives you an unparalleled confidence in bends. I guess BMW testing at the "Ring" really has paid off! I really did not push the car at all...since I just bought it...so I can't imagine how it'll handle when I'll learn it!

Seating position is also great...you are seating very low...everything is around you...the steering is small and thick...the sport seats are amazing with adjustable lateral support and you feel that you are actually "wearing" the car...and the standard stereo is also pretty good!

The REALLY cool thing is that when you unlock the car...the front Corona Rings and rear LED stripes fade-on...and then after a while they fade-out. It is REALLY REALLY cool!

Consumption is OK at the moment...9.8lt/100km.

Front chrome-grills will be installed tomorrow. I have to go there in the morning...because they needed to be ordered. The rear PDC gift is probably an aftermarket one...cause he told me that this is the "new" BMW PDC that is a small thing behind the bumper. I don't care actually...since it is a gift from the dealer....and it works!

I'll tell you more as we go along. So far...I LOVE my new BMW!!! If I could ask for something would be even more power...and an LSD differential!!!

Enjoy the pics...

My brother on the left...me on the right!

Dude, that is one sick looking car! Absolutely beautiful!

The best color for any BMW! If only X5 would be available in that one...

Congratulations and thanks for the input. Karma for you.
