Congrats and have fun with the new W204!

C220 CDI is a good choice. Not short on power, excellent fuel economy and quite refined. I didn't find the engine that loud to be honest, especially when you're sitting on the inside. I find the cabin to be excellent in keeping most exterior noises outside.

This is a question for M.Toni and wimmer....who have driven both the W203 and W204.

When you say that the handling of the W204 is much improved over the W203, are you referring the pre-facelifted W203 models (MY2001-2004) or the facelifted models (MY2005-2007)?. I ask because the prefacelifted W203 cars were quite soft and had vague steering feel. The facelifted W203 cars were a huge improvement.

I wouldn't be surprised if you thought the W204 is better than ALL the W203 models, regardless of facelift or not, but I wonder whether the W204 is really a huge quantum leap over the best facelifted W203?

Yes it is - my little brother has that one. My father is driving the E class. I guess we are all one big Mercedes family .. heh

Good point ... I will say it like this. The pre facelifted W203 really had too much free space when not doing sharp turns I mean it wasn't that direct. When I had the 320 CDI I also got the parametric sterring wheel (driving fatser and the stering wheel got more firm) and I can say that I was really improved over the original W203.

But now I have to say that in the W204 the stering wheel is a golden option - not too firm not too lose. It also combines with the whole new bodywork and suspension so sum it up and you have a really comfortable ride.
