I have sat in a 57 model and interiour wise it's phantastic. The wood, inlaid work and the quality of the leather is some steps above the new S class. I can't compare it to RR or Bentley but DC should be patient. Both - RR and MB - flopped last year. RR has sold last year 762 and Maybach around 400 - 500 according to

We all know they're 1st class, no doubt. But the layout of the interior is nothing but W220 with more buttons. That's what i wanna see changed! | | | | | Executive

Yeah well im with you on that.. so a complete redesign from top to toe.. with MM influence not MB... should be the way to go..
Ohh and under the skin it could be all MB dont mind it having a MB V12 and the 7G tronic.. cause there aint nothing wrong with them.. | | | | | GCZ's High Court

MB's V12 in the car, no other engine. But ask yourself, whos engine could be under MM's hood? Only MB's afaic... | | | | | Executive

They should have never started with the Maybach name. It just proves how all over the place MB's strategy was. They were willing to put their respected badge on the shocking first generation A-class, but couldn't put it on the Maybach. Which car is more in line with Mercedes philosophy. At least it should have been called the Mercedes Maybach.
Secondly, they shouldn't have left the design of the car to the Japanese studio. Its nothing special, and the grill they came up with is Hyundai putrid.
Thirdly, they are never going to out do rolls when it comes to old world prestige, so as roberto suggested, they need to offer a completely contemporary take on the super luxury limosine. Break down that barriers that define what a car in this class should be, and move the game forward.
But in the short-mid term future, I dont see Mercedes doing anything particularly noteworthy with the Maybach. They are simply too strapped for cash to go about creating somthing special.
In all, I'd like to see a MERCEDES Maybach...engineered like no other (in the fullest and truest sense of the phrase) | | | | | Contributor

Yes this is the problem now, money! I'm sure they've come up with some different designs for the next generation car, but it will be another 5-6 years before it comes out. The Maybach hasn't had its "face-lift" yet.
