^^Exactly. But whatever they do, they have to make sure that it doesn't look like an S-class. The rolls looks nothing like the 7er, so it should be the same at MB/Maybach.

Coming from Australia myself i can tell you its all about the WOW factor. We love cars that say look at me. The Rolls says i'm stinky filthy rich with style wereas the maybach says yeh im rich but i have no style or taste... The rolls royce wins hand down everytime in australia because it has a WOW factor that the maybach can't ever hope to match with the current styling....

Maybach is a considerably less experience brand then RR , it looks tomuch like an S-class and is probably less attractive but I hope they will pool thru and will continue with new models. They pretty nice cars.

Well it's too much WOW, imo.

There are only two types of people in this world that are suitable to be seen inside a RR.

First

Second

Maybe sheiks too.

I think thanks to MTV we get an image that RR is bought only by hip hop artists and such when they actually only form a marginal share of the clientele.

Rolls-Royce has not really been a car for true aristocracy for decades. I guess some time in the early 1960s Rolls-Royce pretty much became an iconic symbol of Capitalism more than a true statement of social class.

The Phantom is for anybody who can afford one -- it is a celebration of wealth and luxury -- from this perspective, I find the Phantom to be quite liberating in this age of overbearing political correctness -- I mean, how terribly middle-class to be so worried about appearing flashy and vulgar

Yep, and hopefully the next Generation will correct that (if they decide to continue with the Maybach brand).

Personally, I don't think the Maybach is ugly, when it was first launched I was genuinely excited about it.

I still suspect the Ocean Drive Concept will be a new Maybach model.
I personally think the Maybach looks ok. Definitely not ugly, but the styling is conservative: too conservative. It does look very nice in white though.

And I believe there are still people in this class who want something expensive, but don't want it to stand out.

Yep, I agree

......and those people will more than likely end up buying a Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

RR reports 40% of their cars are still sold in USA. Yet China & Middle East sales are exploding lately.

The dealerships with most sold cars:

Beverly Hills, London, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo and Dubai.

Celebrities are very important RR customers ... collecting the most luxury brands / products.

Sheiks are quite important customers as well. As they are the entrepreneurs in Asia (incl Russia). Aristocracy ... only the English one - mainly the die-hard RR loyalists.

Real estate magnates love the RR very much as well - very important customers among entrepreneur clientèle (Europe, US, Asia).

Btw, Frau Johanna Quandt was offered a Phantom, as well were the Quandt children - but all rejected the offered gifts. Now they drive / are driven in:
Johanna: BMW 5er
Stephan: new X5, 6er coupe
Susanne: new X5, new 3er cabrio (her husband drives FL 7er)
